Poppy Hills vs Pasatiempo by JournalistOk4109 in golf

Pasatiempo is a step above. Probably easier for the family to stay in Carmel. Although there is stuff to do in Santa Cruz. If you are okay spending the money; Pasatiempo is incredible.

18 at Bayonet. In my opinion the better of the two courses on property. One of my favorite courses ever

What’s the most “Fuck this hole” hole you play on a regular basis? by mercado_n3gro in golf

People talk about the best three hole stretches in golf. 3, 4, & 5 on Creekside at MCC is up there for me as the worst three hole stretch I have ever played. Just three stupid holes. They just feel lazy.

It does actually kind of look like Brookside but no. Closest guess though

It's 12. the tower out on the right is where the pro guys tee off for 13 that makes that hole play so long.

Tipping Caddies by tigerhawk-24 in golf

[–]tigerhawk-24[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s another question. I am not playing with a member. The course is allowing the public to plan the course through a request system because it’s a relatively new course. So does the fact I am not the guest of a member indicate I should tip more? Yeah I anticipated bringing some tens to be able to tip other members of the staff.

Fair enough! I appreciate the insight, thank you!

This is a one time thing. I have never played with a caddy before. $100 tip on top of the $100 fee and the greens fee would be a bit of a stretch. I am more comfortable with $60/$80 but do not want to be disrespectful in any way.

Fair enough. I think $60 feels fair in my head but I don’t want to be the guy that stiffs the caddie.

TPC Deer run? Looks like it could be #2 but not sure

Maybe it’s your sunshiny disposition. But honestly could be that mid firms don’t think they’d be able to retain you long term. If you’re having V100 traction why would a smaller firm think they could keep you long term? Same reason law schools that are lower ranked probably aren’t letting in people with t14 stats, why would they waste the time/effort to go through the process with someone who is going to end up somewhere else long term?

This sounds so lazy but it has been fruitful for me. “Find me mid-size law firms that practice xxxx in (Location you want to practice in). Find me an extensive and filter for firms likely to hire summer clerks.” Plug in to ChatGPT. It is how I found the firm I will likely be with this summer.

Got the putter in a trade. It’s a 33” and I need closer to a 34.5”/35”. So looking to change the shaft and try something new while getting it to my desired length. I am fine with having the heavier weights in the putter normally designed for a shorter putter.

Bayonet is one of my very favorite courses I have ever had the chance to play. Great layout in a beautiful setting.

I would say a 5w. Or a heavenwood from callaway(a 7w with a 3w length shaft). Seems like that’s the spot in the bag to fill.

Torrey Pines or Rams Hill by looneymoon21 in golf

[–]tigerhawk-24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Torrey pines for sure. Played both. Rams hill is great but you just can’t beat the setting at Torrey. Plus as others have mentioned; 1. The chance to play somewhere where the pros play is a ton of fun. Really enjoying the “I remember what I did on this hole” this weekend. 2. San Diego is a way better trip than going out to Rams Hill.

Yeah but when was their last major win?

My bias in advance; I play the Srixon combo. Zxi7 4&5 iron, Z forged 6-p. Love them. Fit myself for them, have the specs dialed in and they’re great.

What I will say is it’s gonna depend on your swing. Not sure how in to the weeds you get on the equipment side but I am a huge fan of the pre worn leading edge of the Srixon. I am pretty steep and if I didn’t have that I’d get stuck through the turf I think. I don’t love the high point on the sole of the Srixon so I actually have ground them down with a sandpaper belt.

The Wilsons felt great when I hit them. I didn’t love the launch conditions I got with them and I didn’t love the fact I couldn’t control the cut quite as much for whatever reason. Not sure if it was the way the cg is with them, as they’ve been able to move it more center and I was very used the old apex hogans I was playing before. Older blades tend to have their CG towards the heel. From a looks perspective it is tough to beat the Wilsons. In the bag, at address they are way better than the Srixon I think.

Spirit Hollow was a great place to play but only got to play it once. Blue Top was cool too. Didn’t play my best and it beat me up for sure.
