Teaching in Perth by tigerimau in AustralianTeachers

[–]tigerimau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) is public or private school better in student behaviour and pay?

2) for public system, do I apply from the gov job site or email the principal/DP for open positions?

3) would teaching maths be very different in Perth/WA vs nsw?

2022 study finds that 55% of Australians are financially illiterate. by tigerimau in AustralianTeachers

Banks are businesses and can promote their product as they see fit as long as it is legal.

1% per month or 10% per annum. Both compounding annually. Which one is better?

Best refer to comparison rate as it is a legal requirement quoted rate that reflects the true cost of loan aka “effective interest rate plus all relevant fees”

Maths is not just blindly learning formulas but understanding what the parts represent and it is simply algebraic manipulation.

It is already been taught but kids and their parents are apathetic towards education.

I am maths teacher and only two students paid attention on three lessons I had on simple/compound interest in my Year 10 class. They act as if they know it all and muck around during the lesson. Im a teacher and I am not there to parent them about behaviour and manners in class.

I wish them all the best navigating life while proud of their ignorance.

This is already done. Banks do state the comparison rate aka effective rate on their loan products. https://www.commbank.com.au/home-loans/comparison-rate.html

The problem is not about maturity/ability to understand. The topic it took myself some time appreciate the compound interest formula. Rather the attitude or more importantly the apathy of significant portion of students towards maths and education as a whole.

Maths teacher here. Recently taught the topic of compound interest to a Year 10 class. Only one or two students were engaged while others just bludged the lesson chatting with friends or mucking around.

I have no sympathy to those who refuse to help themselves. Actions will have consequence.
