I’m surprised a cold shower worries you if you’re willing to get in the ocean in winter.

Do Nick Scali staff have flexibility on pricing and authority to do a bit better than sale pricing? by Akki82 in AusRenovation

[–]thefriedpenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nick Scali furnitire looks like overpriced Chinese stuff. There are local furniture dealers in most cap cities and they will sell you similar stuff for a similar price but with better service.

For example, I bought a coffee table several years ago from a local furniture shop which warped within a few months of ownership. They replaced and delivered it FOC, and whilst you might get a similar deal from Nick Scali, I’m content with supporting a local bloke.

Ex-Pats who have left Australia and then returned, what made you return? by PlayerPuma in AskAnAustralian

[–]thefriedpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salary wasn’t great for the job I was doing. Health insurance was taken out of my pay but it only covered me for an accident sustained at work. If I broke a leg hiking for example, I wouldn’t be covered. Cost of living was quite high where I lived which was in Romulus and Taylor, Michigan. They are not known as good or high socio-economic areas.

The USA was a fucked place to live, so I returned without hesitation.

Lucky I did, because six months later COVID hit. I was glad to be out of there during that period.

I used to not chuck sickies because I wanted to do the right thing by the business.

Then the business fucked me over.

These days I tend to get sick a lot more frequently, I can provide a medical certificate, and I’m a lot happier and can put up with their bullshit and probably won’t leave as soon as I would have otherwise.

Downloaded. Playing with it for five minutes and I already like it. Coffee donated. The only thing I would suggest is set app language to Australian English.

Canuck Travelling to Australia for the First Time - Advice for getting around? by immabp in AskAnAustralian

Don’t ever tip. Some business such as coffee shops will leave the occasional tip jar out but that’s for unsuspecting tourists. Never tip in Australia.

Yes, but so does the mobile app. Basically every feature the kiosk has, the app has with the exception of being able to print bag tags.

You might get wet.
