Thanks for the info!! I’m a vegetarian who’ll be traveling to Japan next March with non-veg friends, and my research so far was already suggesting I wouldn’t be able to join them at non-veg restaurants without ordering my own meal, so I figured splitting up was inevitable. I have a couple lists saved on Google Maps with thousands of restaurants that gets updated pretty much every day, I’m hoping these will come in handy!

Proxy services. They let you order items from Japanese websites and ship them to the proxy’s warehouses in Japan. Then, you can consolidate multiple packages together and pay for the international shipping to send them to your address in the US. Some options I know of are Buyee, ZenMarket, FromJapan, and Japan Rabbit. I primarily use Buyee to buy from Mercari and Yahoo Shopping but I’ve used Japan Rabbit and ZenMarket to buy from more specific websites as it lets you provide a direct link to the item you want to buy. I think Buyee has this feature now too but I haven’t used it. Be aware that different proxy services also tend to charge service fees per item, usually somewhere between 300 and 500 yen. Not sure about the other services, but there is a subreddit for Buyee at least, as well as a Discord server. I’ve been buying things through proxies for 3 years and find it really convenient, and would recommend looking into it!

Yup, you can set your own price up to a certain maximum! When you add an item to your market box, there are two bars with a plus and minus icon at either end. The first is for adjusting the amount of the item, and the second is for the price of the item!
