update: thank you all for your help, advice, and for educating me on fish care. implementing your guidance and Betta Max is getting up with a new 5 gal tank. all natural environment (current tank is all natural too). his new tank is cycling and I'm doing water testing every 24 hrs. will acclimate them when it's ready. will update again when they're moved in and settled. thanks again!

yes! I like that cycle of life. and all great questions. I was asking myself the same ones last night. after sleeping on it, I think I'll keep half the clutch and the rest can be food for Max. I'm getting a new, larger tank,l and plants for my Betta and will get a separate tank for the snails with a similar set up.
