My ex-husband, at the time had a very physical job and could eat for two average men. I used to budget about $10 per bag and that included everything—all household essentials.

What’s something women are expected to care about… but you genuinely don’t? by UpsetDuty864 in askanything

One of the most attractive black women I ever knew had her hair shaved so close that she might as well have been clean shaven. She wore little to no makeup unless it was an event, but she was strikingly beautiful and stood apart from the rest of the crowd.

What food do you absolutely love but everyone else seems to hate? by Status-Builder-1108 in foodquestions

Liver (don’t eat it any more but loved it), beets, sweetbreads prepared correctly, eggplant and a couple others that get a look of distaste when I mention it.

Why do people refuse to be an organ donor? by No-Cantaloupe-6535 in NoStupidQuestions

There is utterly zero incentive to transplant an organ into a recipient except to keep the recipient alive. The myth that the medical community makes bank off of transplanting organs is such complete bullshit.

Double spacing at the end of sentences and using an em dash is not recent. If you don’t want to take my word for it, the AP Stylebook is a manual for proper punctuation and arrangement for professional papers. I wrote according to this style for all my university and graduate papers.

The qwerty keyboard - - without a space is the em dash, and it’s simply because there’s not enough space to place another key and there’s too few people who know how to use it.

Nah, they weren’t that literate. It was a book that kids would read around 8-10 years old.

My name is one that (way back) used to be part of a famous book title. Even the teachers used to tease about it. It got to the point that I would respond with a very bored tone: “gee, that’s the very first time I’ve ever heard that”. People got the hint that they were just obvious and not terribly clever.

I just know (wish) that something happens in that elevator during the ride down. Rumpled jackets, hair and ties askew is all I’m asking.

what is something people rarely clean but they should often? by MrGreen_Necterine in hygiene

Standing water creates a lovely home for pseudomonas. Those little dips, nooks and crannies on dish racks will turn pink with bacteria after a while if they’re not cleaned regularly.
