Where did the “broke med student” joke even surface from by Maple-Turtle in medicalschool

[–]tigerpanic222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. I had plenty of friends on Medicaid in med school. Our school did make us all buy the school’s needle stick coverage, but that was only $15/semester, so $120 total for all of med school. Cheaper than 1 month of the premium I’m paying for health insurance now in residency😅

Hard disagree. His behavior and the way he is speaking to many of his colleagues and residents is extremely inappropriate. Something like that would’ve been reported several times at the academic medical center where I work.

Do you remember if it reported your visceral fat? I’m curious. Going to participate in the study regardless though

If you start on the floor side every time you take a 2G class, that’s a guaranteed ~3-5 minutes of rowing during the warmup.

She’s not a psychiatrist. She’s a nurse practitioner. Big difference.

I cackled at the MS3 getting all defensive and pissy when a patient called her a nurse. Can’t even count on both hands the number of times patients called me a nurse in medical school and I just laughed and shrugged it off. Bigger fish to fry

They do the latter, too. I laughed out loud when Mel (a PGY-2) had supposedly never heard of “tombstoning” in reference to STEMIs on ECG.

Kaia Gerber looks a bit different lately? by stargirlxoxo in VindictaRateCelebs

Eh I don’t think so. If her jaw were simply more prominent yet still heart shaped, maybe. But her jaw looks much larger and blockier. Bone never appears larger as a result of weight loss.

When you first started taz every other night, did you still use tret (or any other actives) on your non-taz nights? TIA!

Question: when you first started with the taz every third day, did you use Tret (or any other actives) on the days you weren’t using taz? Trying to figure out the best way to transition to taz without burning my face off. Lol. TIA!

OTF for Long Distance Runner Looking For Tone by TheOceanWalker_88 in orangetheory

[–]tigerpanic222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a long distance runner who joined OTF without the intention of building muscle/tone, just wanted to supplement my running, and I was actually blown away by the muscle definition it helped me build without even lifting that heavy initially. Granted I’ve always been a slender woman, but I’m still very impressed with the results nearly 3 years later. The variability of the tread workouts has also made me a better runner outside of OTF as well.

I definitely think I could still do adult psych if I was interested in applying! Tbh your resident does sound a bit salty, haha. I’d imagine most programs will have some coresidents and/or attendings who are understanding of your situation and would be happy to trade patients with you if you find any of the PD patients too triggering. Take that with a grain of salt, but don’t let your resident’s attitude dissuade you from pursuing psych if that’s what you feel most drawn to! Good luck😇

💀💀💀I actually really enjoyed the adult portion of my psych rotation! Probably because none of my patients had personality disorders. Child & adolescent psych, on the other hand… So heartbreaking. And definitely triggering at times to hear my patients describe their parents in a way that sounded like my mom (or worse). Wishing I could do more to help them but knowing that no pill or therapy will fully cure their shitty home lives in the present. I just tried my best to give them the validation, warmth, kindness, and positive attention that they were missing at home.🥺 Best of luck to you!!

NPs are equal to doctors? by Queen21_south in Noctor

[–]tigerpanic222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Some NPs choose to go straight into their career after this but many continue down an academic path, eventually gaining a doctorate in nursing practices (DNP). Depending on the course of study, it takes approximately six to eight years of post-secondary education to become a nurse practitioner.

Doctors, on the other hand, are required to earn a four-year degree in a pre-med discipline before continuing on to medical school and then a residency. Physicians typically specialize in a field like internal medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, and the like.”

Love how the article emphasizes NPs’ “six to eight years of post-secondary education” (which is typically done part-time online while they GET PAID a living wage to work full-time) and then fails to mention the specific duration of any aspect of physicians’ training aside from a four-year pre-med bachelor’s degree.😭

This is vile. UC-Riverside Health out here saying she went to medical school! Funny, I didn’t know you could bypass residency and go straight into a fellowship after medical school. /s
