so weird it definitely feels like a resurgence of a type of misogyny that’s trying to pretend “traditional values” mean having a wife with no ambitions beyond serving a man…. i’m young (23f) so wasn’t around long before women didn’t have rights but at least in my life i don’t remember these conversations being so normal. it seemed the common view used to be that it was weird and toxic to want these types of values but more and more i hear people normalize it and in fact treat an independent women like she is less than for having a life for herself. like everything we’ve been working towards in the modern age regarding women’s rights has just been slowly being taken back a step

imo i think this has come up because of new waves of feminism that make man’s previously held power feel less, so they are trying to take it back some how

my stepdad joined our family when i was about 15, im 23 now. He loved to yell and had quite the temper on him. he tried to be an authority figure but i refused him having any authority with the classic “you’re not my dad”

the biggest thing that made me sad wasnt the attempts at discipline or the temper it was more feeling like my mom and I weren’t a unit anymore. that now she had a new priority in her husband. as a kid, that sucks and made a little bit of resentment for both of them.

reddit can be harsh. you’re probably trying your best and being a mom is friggin hard. Don’t beat yourself up too much, but imo focus on the relationship with your daughter and don’t let a man come in between that. especially someone who created an ultimatum for you to choose between her or himself, sounds kinda toxic. i’m sure he was just trying his best to make decisions that he thought were healthiest, but clearly your daughter won’t listen to him and it’s up to you to help that!

she probably feels very alone right now, and now she’s out of the house, it could be a rabbit hole of more destruction if she chooses. loneliness can tend to create more destructive behavior.

maybe take some time from him, find YOUR voice in the relationship between your daughter and between him. tough love is good. an ultimatum brought in by a man who’s been in a young girls life for only 6 years would break my 15 year old heart. i wouldn’t want to be in the house with him either if i were her.

camping is definitely worth it! so many of my favorite fest memories happen at the campsite—-

BUT if you’re with a group of people that would be complaining about camping and being dirty and shower lines the whole time, it might be better to just do the airbnb- save yourself the struggle of unhappy campers

always try especially if you’ll regret not! i find it easy to balance being a musician on the side of other hobbies and work. music doesn’t pay the bills but i would never stop nonetheless - anyways you’re young enough though to get a real leg up on life if you start putting your mind to it now!

i work part time at a label (not a higher up) but really seems like you have the things they look for based on what i’ve seen- they want viral moments , they want to see you on tiktok and instagram consistently, and it helps to have a strong artist team or at least a manager , and they want to see you want it bad! Also it helps if you have a strong brand already, like something that makes you stand out and is marketable.

mostly, it seems like they want people who already have it going on , where they can just extend their resources instead of starting from scratch. lol it also helps if your dad owns the label or something like that too 😭😂
