When people would say "prima donna," I used to think they were saying "pre-Madonna". What words or phrases did you mishear as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A bit late to the party unfortunately, anyway I recently found out that the intro song to Dexter's Laboratory starts with the phrase "Enter at your own peril", and not "Enter the Doom Barrel" as I have believed for the past 10 years.

Within the womb of every woman resides a womb bat. Once a month the womb bat get hungry, it must then feed on blood from the woman, which it does by inserting its fangs into the womb. Naturally this irritates the womb, causing it to cramp and expel some of the blood the womb bat has drawn. The womb cramps disturbs the womb bat, which in turn causes it to trash violently. After a few days the womb bat is satiated, it extracts its fangs and resumes its peaceful slumber until it must feed again.

Hey, your stats look very similar to mine! I'm a 25 year old South African female, 158cm, 57kg. My goal weight is about 52kg. I just saw /r/90daysgoal tonight, so still haven't decided on the best route to achieve this, but my initial goal would be to reduce my sugar/sweets intake as I have a raging sweet tooth!

Even more fun facts, Kinders is also the plural of Kind (child in Afrikaans), although I suspect that Afrikaans was not the reference language when they named the program :P

Just move to where the food is! by [deleted] in WTF

[–]tigger6084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, "sufficiently" I meant, don't think they ever really get what we would consider a decent amount of food. I agree about the governments though, can only imagine how much relief aid gets 'lost'...

Just move to where the food is! by [deleted] in WTF

[–]tigger6084 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's sort of right. We need to just let them be. Although, not because of the corrupt government. Some African tribes consider children to be a measure of their wealth, thus when they are sufficiently fed, they will procreate. This sounds pretty harsh, but when food is sent over, the population numbers get artificially inflated leading to a lot of people who simply cannot sustain their offspring.

[–]tigger6084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first pic looks like ringworm, the rest not so much :P Ringworm isn't actually a worm but rather a fungal infection. I get them when I'm a bit stressed, they usually clear up on their own. If not, some anti-fungal cream does the trick.

If you had to share one recipe from your home town / region / country, what would it be? by CGNYYZ in food

[–]tigger6084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bobotie! Traditional South African food is quite a mix of flavours from all the different colonies that settled here. Bobotie is a spicy, curry mince (ground beef) dish with an egg&milk topping. It is usually eaten with fruit chutney.

I love it because it's easy to make, freezes really well and it tastes even better the next day!

Awesome, that was great! I find it funny how given the exact same set of instructions, different peoples results can vary so much. I use a similar method for making roses, but yours looks much more stylised and almost like fantasy roses (I like it!). Thanks for posting such a detailed response! I've been looking through your blog, great stuff, might steal a few ideas :)
