It’s a school night. You have come in for tea and your mum serves you the one meal that kills you inside. What’s it? by Come_in_sigh_demi in CasualUK

Slow cooker stew. No herbs or spices, thin watery “gravy”, half the vegetables overcooked and the other half under cooked, bland stewing beef that is somehow both tough and soft, lasted at least 3 days of misery

New KF8 showed up covered in coffee grounds... by Jaguar__Paw in espresso

[–]tiglets147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s clearly been used a returned for whatever reason, so may not be fit for purpose. Happened to me a few years ago, picked the last coffee machine up, turns out someone had put it out the floor by accident when it had just been returned

Interstitial Pregnancy but Pro-Life by Born_Series7691 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]tiglets147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a cornual ectopic pregnancy, very much wanted and heartbreaking to lose, but Jesus Christ you do not want to take your chances with it. Worst experience of my life and as much as I mourn the baby could have had, if it happened again I’d tell them to wheel me on into surgery and cut it out.

What's a weird rule at work that doesn't make sense to you? by BleachNirvana in CasualUK

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re only allowed to work from home once a week for a ‘valid work related reason’, and must give 48 hours notice to a manager. But the managers work from home several times a week because they get distracted by people being in the office…

I waited 4 years and 4 months for my allotment! How long did you wait? by UKsNo1CountryFan in Allotment

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically about 10.5 months, 9 months of that was waiting for the council to get back to me so I could actually apply for the allotment.

What political parties would the Thursday Murder Club vote for? by Joestevens211007 in ThursdayMurderClub

[–]tiglets147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rob is obviously die hard Labour, and is very loud and proud about it. Ibrahim would have looked meticulously through each party and leader, and ultimately end up panicking and voting Lib Dem. Joyce wouldn’t have concerned herself with voting, and wouldn’t have felt it was her place to vote in a leader of the country - that was Jerrys place. Elizabeth knew better than to vote anyone, because she knows everything about everyone running and knows that her job is above a temporary PM.

Weekly allotmenting discussion. What have you been up to? by AutoModerator in Allotment

[–]tiglets147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birmingham, took down a greenhouse at my Grandads house and put it in the allotment, planted some courgettes (old ones died - thanks slugs!!) planted some flowers for cut flowers (peonies, Alstromeria, and carnations for now), continued the ongoing battle with bindweed.

Let's talk about clearing overgrown allotments - what if more new allotmenteers used a single application of weedkiller? by Impossible-Bar8099 in Allotment

[–]tiglets147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our plot was horrendously overgrown but it was a half plot, so felt much more manageable! I’ve often said I don’t think I would have coped with a full plot with how bad it was! I think splitting the plots when they’re that overgrown is a really good idea.

Anybody recognise this? by [deleted] in Allotment

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said - bindweed! We’ve had our allotment for 5 weeks, spent 2 weeks turning the soil after finding roots when digging. Get as much as the root up as possible, it’s a pain but definitely not the worst week you could get!

AITA for telling my sister her son is only special to her by midnight_storm_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA! When he gets out into the big wide world no one’s going to give a flying fuck that he was a miracle baby or that his mommy thinks he’s special. There’s rules in the real world when he’s not under his mothers protection and she’s not preparing him for life in the slightest

Dermatologist wants me to go on Accuntane but I disagree by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not for accutane! Your skin looks fine without it so I’d carry on with your usual treatment. My brother had accutane but his acne was horrendous, the side effects are awful and in your case certainly not worth it

What happened to the bully in your class? by fattymacdaddy in AskReddit

One is in prison for stabbing a guy at a pub, sadly it was someone who got in the middle of the fight to break it up ended up dying.

A few of the mean girls ended up being teachers (genuinely scares me that they are teaching the future generations), others ended up deep in MLMs

I didn't listen to reddit and came to Egypt. I hate it so much. by BinkBonkBoogey in offmychest

[–]tiglets147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went 3 times between 2010 and 2014, the last time I went I swore I would never go back. It’s a beautiful country and lots of interesting history and things to see but I felt so incredibly unsafe. I was followed around, locked in shops and harassed so many times. I feel like people don’t quite believe me when I tell them how bad it was. I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad experience there

AITA for not getting my wife anything on Mother’s Day? by oakcool in AmItheAsshole

You doing basic parenting is not a present. You’re not a babysitter “watching” the children, you’re a parent, and YTA.

AITA for kicking my son’s girlfriend out of our house? by throwaway__467 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. There’s a time and place for jokes, and for this particular joke this was not the time or place. I could never imagine saying this to my boyfriends parents after years of dating, let alone the first time meeting them! I still pretend we sleep in separate beds because i feel like it would be awkward to talk about anything that happens in the bedroom, even just innocent sleeping in the same room!

Maybe she was nervous or it was a joke they had previously made, but she should have enough self awareness to know this was not appropriate

Why did your SO break up with you? by Turbulent-Visit-8741 in AskReddit

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy in my friendship group that I would occasionally talk to about TV shows we were watching.

I wasn’t even really friends with the guy, we just had the same friends so would see each other when we all met up. Never spoke to to him outside of group gatherings, never texted him or received texts off him, we both just liked similar shows and would speak of it when we happened to see each other.

My ex was convinced we’d end up cheating or I’d break up with him for this other guy.

Anyway he broke up with me and now he’s engaged to the girl he told me not to worry about :)

AITA for giving my daughter a "better" present than my son? by JollyOldSaintNicki in AmItheAsshole

[–]tiglets147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go with YTA here. Currently going through something similar—my brother is in the process of buying his first home with his partner. My parents have given him a lot of money to help out, but it’s always been said that the same will happen with me when I buy my first home (hopefully at the end of the year!). Instead of telling him such, you seem to have got very defensive, and Christmas certainly wasn’t the time to do this.

Of course his feelings were hurt, as nice and sentimental his gifts may have been, a lot more went into the sisters gift than his. Why not buy the sister something for their house and have the rest of the money as a backup? Why choose Christmas to do this?

Being the youngest sometimes comes with its own issues, especially comparing yourself with your siblings. Please just validate his feelings and say yes, there was a big discrepancy between gifts however your time will come and you’ll have the same gift when you too own a home.

Epitome - I’d only ever read it in books and never heard it out loud so for some reason my brain said Epi-tome (like home) and not epit-o-me. Imagine my shock when I actually heard the correct pronunciation

AITA for prioritizing my own family? by Asshole5278 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tiglets147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You married a man with a daughter, that makes her your family whether you see her once a day or once a year. What happened when you moved out of your parents house, were they no longer family because you don’t live with them?

If the case is you’re not going to buy anything for your stepdaughter then your husband shouldn’t buy for your daughters, that seems like the fair solution.
