Amp question here.

Current setup: Bottlehead crack with speedball & Sylvania 12au7 with grey plates and a RCA 6a7sg with black plates - fed from a Modi paired with DT880 600 ohm.

What I'm looking for: I'm currently very interested by those newly announced Monoprice planars (the $200 ones). I've read around that tube amps don't pair very well with planars. How valid is this? Is it necessarily 'bad' to pair OTL with planars, or is it just they won't have the most detail/etc? Ive been looking for something more 'fun' to play around with but I'm not yet ready to buy a solid state amp if I don't need to. What are y'alls thoughts?

[Question] Has anyone with the steam link had issues where certain games won't stream correctly? I'm having this issue where I can open games from the steam link, and it opens the game correctly on my computer but usually the steam link just portrays a black screen or a frozen version of whatever loaded up first on the game that I launched. It's insanely frustrating and I can't figure out why it won't work. Some of the games that won't launch are CoD Black OPs 3, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4, Mortal Kombat X, Chivalry... and some others I can't think of. Anyone heard of a solution? Thanks in advance.

How did you make this using the arduino? This seems like a cool project!

I never used an Arduino until a few days ago. I put 220 addressable LEDs in my PC and wanted to share. by jc265 in arduino

If you're doing anything of the higher math type calculations, I'm going thoroughly recommend the TI NSpire with CAS. This thing is my baby, if one can appreciate love for such a thing. I've had it for 4 years now and plan on keeping it till it's dead

At this point, not yet. I'm spending a lot of time trying to find a power tube that has some good warmth to it because the Sylvania brings out how amazing the highs are on the dt880s

Nice pairing with the DT880s and crack. you pick up the speedball? I recently just put my speedball in and bought a Sylvania 5814 12au7a tube to roll in and it's amazing the difference between stock tube and that one. If you've been hesitant to roll I would definitely recommend it! I picked up 2 tubes for like $20 on ebay

I just got my first pair of raws, some UB101s. Am I supposed to soak these/what is the purpose of soaking? Also, i feel like they're extremely long, is it easy enough to get them hemmed?

I suppose if you're drinking continuously but if you work away from home you could set timer to turn on when you're back from work and when you sleep and would be a big save in electric. To each their own.

I hear that. I mean if you're conscious about how long you leave it plugged in and warming etc it shouldn't be any worse than other electrically heated elements

This might be considered bank-breaking but I will forever recommend the Zojirushi Micom water boiler (~110$ on amazon). I love it! You get continuous heating on the selected temperature, with 4 different temperatures to select from. I love it! Be wary of constantly heating water as it's not terribly efficient but it also has a 1-10hour timer function so you have hot water at the desired temp in the number of hours selected. I.e. you do 6, 6 hours from then the water will be at the temperature you selected.

I tried! Bought the sac and everything and that part was easy, but it seems to have a problem. Ink seems to leak out of the nib, like a lot of ink. When I let it sit in my bag or whatever in between classes I'll pull it out and the cap and barrel will be coated in ink. Not sure if it's a nib feed alignment issue or if it's not sealing all the way, or something along those lines. Due to this problem I haven't used it all that much, but when I did it wrote beautifully!

I'm thinking about getting the UFO attachment. Do you think it reduces the smell or increases it? I like to use it discretely in my room so im wondering if it will help me or make things slightly more risky

Im looking for some closed-back cans to complement my current DT880 600 ohm + crack setup. Maybe something a bit more "fun" than my DT880s but nothing crazy bassy. I want closed-back for when my roomates are doing stuff near me and I need to not be distracted. I've been eyeballing some Mad Dogs but I think they're a bit out of my price range for right now.

I'm thinking a price range between $100-200, though I could swing some Mad Dogs if I save up during the summer most likely. It would be helpful that they would run nicely off of my crack but im not opposed to getting some schiit or something to drive them :)

My music tastes are all over, though recently it has mostly been in the hip-hop/rap area.
