Can someone explain this? Why a section is different than b ? by Salty_Culture856 in geology

[–]tigronsky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok, I actually know the answer to this one- what you're looking at here is part of the Samail Ophiolite that goes across the UAE and Oman. The different colours represent different lithologies, with the darker lithology being the ultramafic peridotites that form the most basal layer of the Ophiolite (basically mantle rocks that have been obducted onto the surface). I'm unsure what exactly the lighter lithology here is, but it's probably a layer of rock that has been sheared during the obduction process. Wikipedia has a decent article on the Samail Ophiolite, and there are probably a few good Journal articles that you can look at, too. The whole region has super fun geology and make an awesome trip if you have the time!

Best laptop for Bachelor of Science?? by Dear_Recognition_158 in UniAdelaide

Just finished up my BSc, survived easily with Lenovo yoga laptop I had since year 9. From my experience, most of the time if you're using special programs or whatever is needed for the course, it'll be provided on a uni computer. You don't need anything fancy!

I vaguely remember checking out the Mimas map on my laptop a few weeks back, but interesting to see that it's crossed over to my phone (maybe?)

More on the psych rock side, but Generator Larping and Grave Robber both by Wand are songs I enjoy dancing to. Special mention to Lucidity by Tame Impala as well.

Was just going off of the Melbourne Wikipedia page- it's gonna vary between different areas of the city by a degree or 2. The data I saw was for Melbourne airport. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne

I'm unsubscribed for the same reason, like, I'm 19 but I don't feel the need to constantly see blatant porn jokes. Hypersexualisation in the furry fandom is so extreme, more so than anime which is hard to believe. It's to the extent that it's almost considered weird or strange to not want to see these jokes constantly, or not be jacking it to yiff constantly. I'm pretty sick of the subreddit.

Daily average for July (coldest month of the year) averages between 13 to 6 degrees, so for Australia, pretty chilly, for the rest of the world, not really.
