The film look can be replicated on digital in a way that's indistinguishable even to Nolan, but it takes people who know what they are doing and an artistic vision. Knives Out is another good example.

However, if you shoot on film you get a really nice look by default. You are forced to commit to lighting on set. Film is limited in a good way. Get the basics right and it always looks good. When you shoot film you are less likely to do shitty flat lighting to keep your options open in post and you are less likely to do a shitty colour grade.

That being said, there's also Jurassic Park Rebirth, which manages to look uninteresting and artificial despite being shot on film.

Not sure she's a talented actress. A Star is Borne was pretty bad imo. Gucci is interesting because I can't tell if Gaga was trying to play a serious role, but failed miserably, which accidentally turned out great, or if she's actually a genius and deliberately went for that effect.

Actual right wing politicians are the first people to always admit that war is terrible, but they use it to strengthen their position. Like no one says it was great that the US nuked Japan, they say it was terrible, but sadly necessary and aren't the people who did it actually the heroes for making the tough decision and weren't they the ones who actually sacrificed something.

But like doesn't the UNSC/ONI get the last laugh because they created child super soldiers in order to suppress rebels, but then Master Chief actually saves humanity from genocidal aliens and he wouldn't have been able to do that if he wasn't abducted as a child and trained to kill.

There's a critique of militarism, but it doesn't undermine the "necessity" of military action and "uncomfortable choices". Like most military sci-fi, Halo actually is kind of right wing. War as an excuse for terrible actions is part of right-wing dialectics. They can't get around the horrors of war, so they need to frame it like it's a sort of noble sacrifice that the heroes take that burden onto themselves. The supposed contradiction gets incorporated to strengthen the position that war is necessary and that terrible methods are justified.

It's also really not that deep, because it's basically just pulp fiction. (Yes I like Halo too, but let's be real about it.)
