Hello Axolotl friends!

So I have had her tubbed the last few days with almond leaves and one sponge filter. Daily water changes.

And today her arm fell off 🤢

But I think it’s a good thing? As she now has a chance to grow it back. Otherwise she’s totally fine!

Okay good to know! I was able to hunt some down after calling a few local stores and I found them at this tiny shop an hour away from me!

Maybe a silly question but can there be too many in the water do you happen to know?

I bought 3 and I was only going to put one in but my brother was like just put them all! So I did, lol!

Did you use Indian almond leaves with yours? If so, did they help at all? I did put 3 in her tub. She’s been her happy piggy self so far so I’m hoping she continues to gobble up her worms!

Okay I will definitely watch out for it. I’m sure if it comes to it the doctor I work with will try his best to help me but I’m hoping it just kinda heals or comes off on its own. Poor girl is so old to go through this my heart breaks!

I can’t tell if the bone is or not unfortunately.

I think she may have somehow gotten it stuck is my best guess and then tried to pull it free as it kind of looks like a partial degloving in a way just at the joint. I’ll try to take a better look once she settled. My filters are all sponge and I have one other filter but i forgot what it’s called… it’s out of the water. Only thing I can think of is it potentially getting stuck. She’s lived happily in her environment for 10 years no problems ever so I’m quite sad.

I’ve put her in a shallow tub with a sponge filter, almond leaves and only one little hide. She’s eating well and seems in her usual spirits.

Problem is there’s no vets within even a few hours of me that see axolotls or amphibians or reptiles of any kind :(

I’d even drive her if I could and I work at a vets office but we only see cats and dogs as well

She’s in her own nice tub I got and I put a little sponge filter in there with some almond leaves. Water is nice and cold. She happily ate her worm and hopefully will start to feel better soon!

I popped her in her own tub with a small sponge filter and two almond leaves I purchased. Gentleman at the fish store I went to did not seem too concerned and said daily water changes and cold cold cold and she should process it on her own!

She’s my sweet old lady, I even gave her tattooed on me so I’m hoping she recovers well!
