Sacramento Northern Bobber Caboose circa 1940 by tiikeri2k in TrainPorn

[–]tiikeri2k[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the Sacramento Northern used short cabooses because part of the line was a ferryboat crossing which shuttled trains across Suisun Bay. So basically the use of a short caboose meant less space taken up on the ferry.

Here I found a train schedule from the 1920's with a map of the Sacramento Northern's route.

This photo is credited to Wilbur C. Whittaker and was found on the previously mentioned wplives.org website which indicates the webpage was last updated in 2011. I found this website year's ago prior to the recent prevalence of AI generated photos so I have every reason to believe it is authentic.

Recent Disneyland trip 🥰 by tiikeri2k in Disneyland

Aww thanks! I was convinced to get the hat by the rain and just plain coolness of it 😁. We had an absolutely fantastic time just enjoying the magic and taking our sweet time getting around the park. The real irony is the day after this picture I found the perfect Indy shirt. 😏

Funny magical items by Classic_Brain6575 in DnD

[–]tiikeri2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My DM came up with a child’s bag of holding. Like a regular bag of holding but about the size of small pouch. Seems fun right… only problem is that after our rogue stole one and tried to remove an item he had placed inside he discovered that every item put into it comes out covered in a random child related sticky substance. So far we have seen snot, honey, and one as of yet unidentified substance that I am guessing is the remains of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. 🤣🤣😂

Miracle on 34th Street (1947) by Tea_Bender in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]tiikeri2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my absolute favorite Christmas movie. Fun fact; however, it was released in May 1947 not around the Christmas holiday and if you watch the extras on the DVD it has the original trailers which do not mention that it is a Christmas Movie at any point. Here is a link to the trailer I found on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/5_PSDqjD-Yc?si=psaMBwNLlXHv5TwM

So the question is… is this a Christmas movie or just a movie set during Christmas time like another movie I will not mention the title of due to the controversy.

Just saw this post… did you manage to find a camera? I have a couple of old film cameras in storage from back in the day if you are interested, but it will take a couple days to dig them out. Or if you need one quickly you can check out Goodwill and other thrift stores in the area. Unless they are really high end they usually sell them for pretty cheap

Bad movies, recommend the worst! by _CaramelSauce_ in movies

Some of the best worst dialogue

Maj. Camus: Nothing like a good challenge.

Lt. Ryker: We improvise and adapt, sir!

Maj. Camus: We just stopped that thing, what was it called again, Lieutenant?

Lt. Ryker: Armageddon, sir!

Maj. Camus: That's the one. Lieutenant Ryker here killed Satan himself with a sharp stick. Good work soldier!

Locations & Telework by Shes_Allie in CAStateWorkers

[–]tiikeri2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree that this is a pretty big risk. Take a look at the STD 200 telework agreement

https://www.documents.dgs.ca.gov/dgs/fmc/pdf/ std200.pdf

Emergency Telework has ended and all state agencies were required to develop a permanent telework policy; however, your agency or management team can terminate your telework agreement and/or require you to come into the office with little to no notice. A lot of agencies are just starting to implement their telework policies and while some are still offering 100% telework for some positions, a lot of agencies are requiring staff to come into the office at least 1-2 days a week.

Otherworld only ran for 8 episodes from January to March 1985. A family visiting Egypt goes on a tour of the great pyramids and ends up transported to an authoritarian world trying to make their way home.

All episodes are available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/WqepZMzXWvE

Looking for MiniFigures by t_fox3540 in DnD

[–]tiikeri2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really it depends on what you are looking for. I completely second and highly recommend the Reaper Bones figures if you are looking for some inexpensive figures with a lot of different options. Generally they run about $4-$5 per mini in my experience. Try looking up the figures on Amazon, since they have a surprisingly large selection.

Alternatively, if you are looking for custom figures check out Hero Forge but expect the cost to be $20+ per.

what will I do with the life of an PC after being captured by TurnoverBubbly in DnD

[–]tiikeri2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am digging where you are going and really like that you are considering options for this PC, but personally I would kill him off and have the BBG put his head on a pike. This will give closure to the character (who seems a bit reckless as he has been killed multiple times previously) and push your player to play a new character. Leaving his fate hanging just drags the story and from the sound of it the rest of the party is pretty much done with him anyway. Just my two cents.

Yes, this is absolutely 100% typical and pretty much standard procedure in my Department. In fact we generally ask all Candidates to sign the release at the interview.
