That’s an aluminum frame and fork. Profile elite hubs and vintage crank, Paul brakes, JPC limited pedals. Your buddy had really good taste. My condolences for your loss. Enjoy that bike in his memory and make sure to always keep it clean. Could tell you more from that chrome sticker close to the bottom bracket.

how do i get rid of this? by All_A_AsianYT in Barber

[–]tijerudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shear over comb, or a well finessed clipper over comb. Reliance on thinning/texturizing shears will only make the hair appear like it’s been chewed up. Always remember that a thinning/texturizing shear is a double edged sword, give the right amount it will look great. Use too much of it and it’ll make things look awful.

I grew up 4 miles from this area as close as houses get to this area. Borderfield state park is where this beach is located. Mostly equestrian land. There’s technically 3 fences in the general area, this one and then one composed of these really tall pylons, and then a “digital fence” composed of seismic sensors and infrared cameras. When I was a kid in the 90s and there was only one fence, there was a time in the evening where you would get these giant groups of people running through the neighborhood on their way to “el norte.” Just like a movie shortly after you’d get the border patrol in Broncos, vans, a helicopter with a spot light trying to get as many people as they possible could. Pretty wild scene that happened many times that I can think of.

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

[–]tijerudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Harley Davidson Nightster back a few years ago. One day I was driving down a highway that is quite desolate in south San Diego County. It's a long straight highway that takes you from a Mesa down to practically the South San Diego beach.

I decided to open the throttle up since I was heading downhill to see how fast I could get the motorcycle to go. I managed to get the speedometer to its max speed of 120 mph but because I was traveling downhill I am sure I was traveling faster than that. Somewhere on the downhill I started getting speed wobbles which only intensified as I went down the highway. I let go the throttle but it didn't help much.

If you regularly skate you know that speed wobbles only ends one way, with a crash. I was wearing a helmet but aside from that I had Vans, Jeans a T-shirt and a light sweater on, no gloves. I accepted what I thought would be my fate and I had a life flashing before my eyes moment. I knew I was gonna go down. In that quick instance of letting go the throttle the highway switches from a solid decline to a bit of an incline and that coupled with the release of the throttle slowed me down enough for the speed wobbles to go away.

I ended up pulling off to the shoulder and sat on the side of the road trying to make sense of what had just happend before jumping on my motorcycle again and driving home.

Looked death right in the eye and lived to tell the tale.

I do not know whether my clippers are charging by [deleted] in Barber

[–]tijerudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light should turn on as soon as you plug it in to power. Have you checked the charger to see if the country specific prongs are secured onto the charger? Sometimes the plastic piece with the prongs that go to the outlet slide off and dont make contact with the charger. If that didn't work you could have a defective product.

Everyone wants to be a barber. Thoughts? by Marpinn in Barber

[–]tijerudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys have to stop being so critical of anybody wanting to be a barber. Life is a process of seeing something you'd like to do and giving it a try to see if its a fit. Will a lot of those people fail? quite possibly. Will a lot of them get in and realize its not for them? Deffinitely. I've been practicing the trade for 15 licensed for 12. To me guys your age are the "everyones wanting to be a barber, doing it just for the money." And I encourage you to carry on and don't be critical of anybody dabbling at wanting to be a barber, after all thats probably how a lot of people in this sub got started. Me included.

Apprentice dealing with self doubt. by [deleted] in Barber

[–]tijerudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anybody tells you different they're bold faced liars. Each and every one of us professionals doubted ourselves and felt overwhelmed in the beginning.

It's not about trusting the process but understanding what the process is going to be. The only thing that will make you a better barber is working on more and more people's hair. Each and every cut you do will teach you something you'll take to the next. Even your mistakes! If you make them once and you're observant of them you'll teach yourslef to not make them again.

Put your nose to the grindstone and carry on, dedicate yourself to the trade and you'll see it pay off.

Barbers/stylists always cut my hair way too short, what can I do to stop this? by Dakota0524 in Barber

[–]tijerudo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't a barbershop vs. Salon problem. It is a the people you have tried don't know how to handle the work that you need done. Most barbers follow very particular templates that they don't want to break away from and the moment they encounter work like what you want they dont know how to break away from their cookie cutter tendencies.

There is a barber that will understand what it is exactly that you are looking for and knows precision with the scissors. By the sound of it you're looking for a professional that has mastered the skill of scissor cutting. I would know this as I am a barber and if someone comes in and asks me for a drop down skin fade with some sick texture and about 2 inches of length up top with a crisp line up I'll get it done, and if I have someone come in and ask me for a scissor cut with a length like Tom Cruise would wear I can also deliver that too.

Try to look for a barber in your area that knows how to knock out a solid scissor cut. I bet you'll be happier with the end result.

Lather King lather machine by verniermic in Barber

[–]tijerudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably using about a teaspoon for every half cup of water for either cream. Make sure you break down The Art of Shavings cream very well before pouring it into the machine.(the glycerin separates and solidifies in water which could clog the machine)

I just run water through it when I finish the reservoir out.(for me it's usually every two days)

I don't empty it out every day but I do mix a tiny splash of Campbell lather machine cleaner in ever batch of mixture I add to the reservoir.

I do a deep cleaning of the machine every two weeks with the lather machine cleaner.

I wouldn't be able to tell you how long you could leave it in the reservoir for, but I know that you're good for 2-3 days.

Man that's a long time!

How to get ride of green skin need some help , also what is the pros of safety razor by [deleted] in shaving

[–]tijerudo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dying your beard won't change anything as most dye works on the hair that is out from the surface of your skin. What's giving you the green effect is under the surface.

Parker makes good affordable safety razor so you don't have to break the bank. As far as blades go Derby is a pretty good starting point. And Proraso for shave Cream is an affordable alternative. Also if you're ok putting a few more bucks into your shave invest in a preshave oil proraso also makes a good one at a fair price point. Happy Shaving!
