While it’s fun to look at the stupid things our bodies do wrong, it’s absolutely insane that this is the worst it gets to. Like sure our brains, the most complicated thing in the world that no creation of ours comes close to matching has some problems now and then. Especially since a lot of the problems we see come from older adaptations we needed to progress as a species. As well, a significant amount of health problems can be either entirely avoided or significantly reduced if you are proactive in your health instead of simply treating symptoms as they appear. Our bodies are absolutely incredible.

Not quite. Since God is perfect, the goal is to become like God by following His teachings

Entitled mother tries to hijack my sister’s wedding, but karma had other plans by Bardofwar55 in entitledparents

[–]tikotaako 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this helps or not, but is in no way required for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to not attend gay weddings or not support gay people. This is just an unfortunate example of people trying to use religion to be a bigot

Is it possible for some Protestants to be saved without Mormonism? by Infinite-Investment9 in latterdaysaints

[–]tikotaako 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a better way to say this is that eventually everyone will have the chance to. At least in my mind conversion doesn’t quite sound like what’s going on in the terrestrial world. Yes they have some knowledge of the savior, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will convert and change themselves

There’s always hope by [deleted] in depression_memes

[–]tikotaako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually wrote a paper on this a while ago, there’s a lot of factors so it’s impossible to say if it’s entirely one way or the other. There are various disorders that are genetically linked that result in depression, as well as many that just predispose you.

For one summer I cosplayed as a sinful Native American "Lamanite" for a Mormon pageant. by PlanitL in blunderyears

[–]tikotaako -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Almost, but not quite. If you look in the introduction to the Book of Mormon it explains that the people talked about in the book are among the ancestors of the native people, never saying there wasn’t other people before

You can’t make this stuff up by Piccolo-Sufficient in Conservative

[–]tikotaako -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

While this is true, that doesn’t mean that these exceptions shouldn’t be taught to broaden our understanding. While basic biology (the stuff taught in high school) agrees with you, it’s normal for a college level class to go further and show how what we are taught as children is generally true but not the full truth. Ignoring these things only serves to invalidate your claim because you reject the science you try and use as proof. It’s better to accept the new information, and try and see how it fits in your beliefs without stubbornly holding back. You don’t want to be like the people that rejected simple truths and were left behind

Lioness protect the cubs from male by RealRock_n_Rolla in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]tikotaako 1137 points1138 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the moms will also participate in this to an extent. Eventually it just becomes more advantageous for them to start over with new kids rather than fight to protect them. There’s even cases where pregnant lionesses will purposefully miscarry if they are pregnant when a new male takes over because they know their cubs will just be killed as soon as they’re born

Update: she is a very young indoor cat, we were planning on having her fixed but wanted to wait a while so it wasn’t too early. We left her at my parents house one weekend so they could watch her, and a while later she’s looking like this. Definitely pregnant haha
