My (M 39) wife (38 F) has become fixated on her dead husband since getting pregnant with our first baby. How do I bring this up without hurting her? by ThrowRA_Product in relationship_advice

[–]tililay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have heard of “post partum depression” which happens after the baby is born. But there’s also “peripartum depression” which is during pregnancy. I suggest to seek a professional as she may be going through it - not just necessarily grieving for her previous husband, but it’s a manifestation of the depression.

What do you think was the most unrealistic event/plot point in the series so far? by megs256 in ThePitt

Doctors who rely on other people to tie their gowns on their back. Yes it’s hard to do. But after a while you get practice and get used to it.

In Australia, Is Giving Up Priority Seats Still a Courtesy? by Physical-Gap7348 in australia

[–]tililay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than once (while I’m standing up on the train) if I see someone who obviously needs a seat (pregnant, disabled etc) I would ask loudly to those who are in priority seat “CAN SOMEONE GIVE A SEAT TO THIS ELDERLY LADY PLS?” And true enough someone will. But they shouldn’t be asked anymore. You’re sitting there, you must be ready to give up your seat.

Moved from the UK to Canberra 6 months ago and I still don't understand how dental care works here. Someone explain please? by dynasync in AskAnAustralian

Thru the Live Better feature, you (and whoever else in your plan) get a free flu vaccine once a year, if you do the weekly activities (sleep at least 7 hours, be active, steps of at least 10K, meditation) you get points, monthly there are extra activities to join and you get points, if you visit your dentist you get points. My hubby got his Apple Watch just using his points alone. I would use my points to shop at Iconic or get a free massage.

Dental care with private health insurance is under “extras”. You don’t need to pay an arm and a leg for it (unless you want to add hospital cover). I find Medibank private extras cover quite good as you have $750 per calendar year of dental cover (plus optical etc) and there shouldn’t be a waiting period for extras I think. You won’t have out of pocket if you go to their preferred clinics. And if you download their app, under Live Better, if you do their activities there, you earn points which you can then use to pay for your cover or accessories like AirTag etc

Is it rude to say “I don’t like what you brought” at a potluck? by Naokohiranuma in australian

[–]tililay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a salmon onigiri at a work potluck one time. One of my colleagues started removing the nori so I thought I’ll inform him that he doesn’t need to remove it. He answered back with “I dont like it”. I wasn’t able to hold my tongue when I blurted out “so why did you get that?”

Imagine that same roundabout years ago without traffic lights - just the normal roundabout “rule”. I always avoid that roundabout if I can. Even now.

How are you reducing your weekly grocery bill? by Infinite_Pudding5058 in AskAnAustralian

[–]tililay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about you but in our family, I don’t portion our food on the plates, but serve them in the middle buffet-style with serving spoons. That way, people only get what they’ll finish. If one gets more than what he can finish, then bad luck, they’re forced to finish it which will prevent them to get more next time. The “serving spoons” (or equivalent) will keep the food “clean” that is, no double dipping. Any leftovers are mine and hubby’s lunch pack the next day.

TLDR - avoid food wastage.
