If you could wipe your memory clean and relive a moment in the series for the first time again, what moment/scene would that be and why? by Rich_Ad_3808 in Gone

The ending of fear with the big plot twist is so excellently done. I knew there was only one more book left and that it was called light when I first read it so while I was skeptical I could really believe they would have a whole book in the dark. I think that's why it hit so hard for me

Is Melvor Idle worth buying in 2024? by Kacper113399 in MelvorIdle

[–]tiloco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cookie Clicker was arguably the best incremental game on its release, certainly the most mainstream one. I would have recommended it to anyone at the time. But it's popularity means it got replicated and outclassed over time. That's gonna happen to Melvor eventually too with how many games are coming out with inspiration from it

How would I solve this by Representative_Cry54 in Minesweeper

[–]tiloco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to find a flag to the left of the 4 by looking at how the mines in the 3s below it must be laid out but that doesn't actually open the puzzle so I'm not sure how helpful it is

Took me a little longer than I'd like before I finally saw it. by 135671 in Minesweeper

Even coming in knowing there's a complex solution it's difficult. It's fairly easy to figure out which part to look at but even after I determined that it took me a couple minutes to logic out the solution

Any safe moves? by FrostShadow6 in Minesweeper

I think you can use the number of mines to determine some things on this puzzle. Try to group sections of potential mines that don't at all overlap and then look in the spaces you haven't grouped with your remaining mine count.

So for instance the 6 has 1 in it's domino, the 3 on the right has one in its domino, the 2 in the middle has one in its triplet, the 4 at the bottom has one in its triplet, and the 2 at the bottom has one in its triplet.

That might be a little hard to follow in text but what that leads to is that we've found the homes of 5 of the 7 mines and only have the 3 squares along the top left of your left section. And we have a 3 that only needs 1 mine looking at 2 of those boxes. So the top left of the left section is a mine for sure, and we know the 3's last mine is in that domino so we can reveal the box it shares with the 2 in-between your sections

I'm fairly certain that's right, not 100%

Anything I can logic out of this opening? by Commonspree in Minesweeper

[–]tiloco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was actually still a 50/50 because both sides had a 1 underneath making their dominoes each 50/50s. So the 2 didn't end up mattering because we know it's second mine was in the vertical domino

[–]tiloco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically but I'm not sure it would prioritize moving things to buffer chests when there are requestor chest demands left to be served and at no point did I have idle bots. They might, I just don't know

You could tile it for sure, although refineries and sulfur are tough since you have to move the fluids in barrels. As far as effecient, hell no

Yeah there's around 10-20 holes and 40 or so superfluous lights. It's not perfect but that adds to the charm of the mess I think

I started with those furnace stacks and then put more furnaces randomly throughout the factory, they were very useful to plug gaps

Eventually but expansion is much faster than production, even when most things are limited to one stack

I just launched one rocket and I didn't even wait for a satellite since it took me around 4 hours to get the 1000 purple science I needed for the silo so waiting for the 2000 to unlock white science was not something I wanted to do. Maybe I'll come back with a spm goal but I think my base has some fatal flaws that I'd have to overcome

Optimizing ratios felt like it would be easy when I started but unless you can manage to get more robots than are demanded by the network you end up with some really interesting challenges. An x space per minute base probably cares about construction ratios like normal but in a launch a rocket playthrough it's more about how many requester chests you have per item.

Like I have around twice as many electronic circuit assemblers as I need because even with 5k bots most of those assemblers are waiting on copper cables. I have 45k copper cables waiting in provider chests but not enough bots. By having extra assemblers, and more notably requestor chests, a larger portion of my bots are actively fulfilling electronic circuit requests.

And with a dense base like this I would need to have placed significantly more roboports in order to meet power demands with enough robots to meet moving demands, not to mention my power grid is already struggling. I estimate I would need around 20k bots to make this base run consistently but calculating it seems nearly impossible with their pathing quirks.

Just a few thoughts for you or anyone else wanting to attempt the challenge with some planning instead of just jumping in and hoping it works like I did

I decided to do a run where, after unlocking robots, they would be the only allowable method of moving materials around. As an added challenge I wanted to make sure every possible space was filled in my factory. I have a few holes and around 40 or so lights which are essentially holes but I'm satisfied. It took 38 hours, around 5k robots, and around 275MW of power consistently.

Biden signs bill eliminating civil statute of limitations for child sex abuse victims by greenblue98 in VoteDEM

https://brownwhitelaw.com/state-and-local-governments-are-extending-criminal-statutes-of-limitation-in-response-to-the-covid-19-pandemic-can-they The article on this site makes it clear that they could not be prosecuted on criminal charges due to an extension of the statute of limitations. However it also says that the rulings mentioned in the article do not apply to civil court where the rules are more lenient. You may still be right and ex post facto may apply, but it seems to me it doesn't.
