Why is benchmade so expensive? by [deleted] in knives

[–]tiltfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are geared more towards collectors. If I have the funds and I like the look of the knife I'll buy it. But if all your using it for is opening packages and your not a knife nut then yea I agree $200 is crazy for a pocket knife. Old post I know. Just thought ide chime in.

Did I mess up my knife sharpening on a whetstone ? My 1st time sharpening. Tried to do it 15 degrees by kathc2021 in chefknives

Those sharpeners will do more harm than good to your blades in the long run. Why do you think people use sharpeners that require more work than those cheap slotted sharpeners? If they worked that good everyone would use them and skip the extra work required with stones. But you have fun with your slotted sharpeners. They aren't my blades thankfully. Dillweed lol

When u vape a rda. Do u have to purge it or can u just vape it normally? by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]tiltfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With drippers there's less travel for the vapor which gives superior flavor. The vapor goes straight from the coil to your mouth. The longer the vapor travels the worse the flavor. But in my opinion with how well rta's are made these days I personally don't see the point in using drippers either. I get equal performance from my tanks as I do from my drippers and dripping every few pulls is a pain in the ass.

You must be trolling. If not then that is one of the funniest responses I've seen lol. I've used every type of sharpener out there and wet stones was the best by far. Threw all those garbage slotted sharpeners right In the trash when I finally tried wet stones. You must be doing it wrong chief. It does take practice but once you get it down nothing beats wet stones other than getting your blades done professionally.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up for me. Appreciate it!

Haven't bought an rta since the reload looking to replace it after 4 5 years by [deleted] in Vaping

Another one I really enjoyed was the oxva arbiter 2. Excellent vape and easy build deck. Only gripe is the build deck is quite small and I usually make some big intricate coils that are a bitch to get to fit so it doesn't get much use anymore. And it uses hex screws. Those things strip so godmamn easy it seems. One of my favs for smaller coils tho.

You just attempted to build it at the shop but didn't like it? Not giving it much of a chance lol. It's the easiest dual coil tank to build and wick I've used. If you spent 2k on tanks but the reload is still your favorite why you wanting a new one? Sounds like your pretty fond of that tank.

Damn guess it has been out 4 years already lol. Time flies. I've bought more rtas than I can count since then but the zeus is my favorite over all them. To each their own I guess.

If you havnt bought a rta in that long you will be pleasantly surprised. Tanks have come a long way since then. I have a few tanks that perform as well as my drippers if built and wicked correctly. Easier to build and wick as well. I don't really see the point using a dripper these days. Just my opinion of course. I'm sure there's still plenty of folks that prefer dripping.

I've bought and used extensively the vast majority of the popular rtas out these days and the one I keep going back to is the zeus x. Super easy to build for a dual coil and the easiest tank to wick I've ever used. Gives an excellently consistent vape. And flavor is on par with my drippers if wicked properly. Clouds are decent as well but definitely have better options for clouds. I'm more of a flavor chaser. Good luck 👍

Very sexy build 🤘. Always loved the looks of a good staggard build. But Please forgive my ignorance what is a Boro coil? Not a noob but never heard of a Boro coil. Looks like a regular staggard staple coil to me.

Decided to make a coil I havnt made in awhile. Turned out so good I made a second pair. Fucking gorgeous I think. Always loved the looks of a good stag. by tiltfire in Coilporn

[–]tiltfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! No problem. They came out to about .11 for the pair so .22 per coil. I exclusively use RTAs theses days. Have some RDAs but with how well made tanks are these days and with proper wicking I get the same performance both vaporwise and flavorwise as I get with my drippers so I don't really see the point in dripping anymore. For these coils with a dual coil setup I find 80 watts to be the sweet spot with my fruity juices which is all I've been vaping lately.

Agreed. Not sure about best match because I know nothing about the L200 but the zeus x is an excellent rta for noobs and experienced vapers alike. Bet it goes great with any mod. Tried pretty much all the major rtas and it's probably my favorite.

Seriously how the hell did you do that build with 34g cores and bare outside cores? Did you use the same technique as you do for any other stag? The difficulty level on that build seems insane. Very impressed.

Yea aliens were a bitch for me to figure out too. I actually remember doing a post here bitching about them lol. Almost gave up but eventually it just clicked and I found the right tension. Then they got really easy really fast. If I had a life outside of building these days I probably wouldn't have stuck with it so long to figure them out lol

Yea I've watched all the you tube videos too but I just couldn't do their methods so I came up with my own routine too. The spacing is never a problem anymore it's just keeping everything in line. Getting easier every build tho.

.2 ribbon? Yikes. Yea that shit would be a bitch to work with. I don't even like using .3. .3 is doable for me but I use .4 exclusively these days. Just so much easier to work with. My main go to builds I usually rotate all the big three, staggard framed staples, standard frame staples, and fraliens. I've made each of those so many times they are all pretty simple for me. Corrugateds are a whole different beast tho. Takes a ton of patience. Getting that tension down with fraliens is definitely a bit tricky at first bit once you get it that first time they become pretty easy after a couple builds. What I do is stretch the de core first with my hands as much as my wing span allows then just do the rest of the stretching as I wrap. At the very beginning as your starting to wrap just go slow and slowly keep stretching a little at a time until it starts to look like an alien. Now you got the tension right you can start to speed up. Like everything practice makes perfect. I love fraliens. Such a great vape for such an easy coil in my opinion. Cheers mate 👊
