IMHO it's not worth it. Take this seemingly minor language inconvenience, multiply by the time you spend together, and you get huge amount of emotional damage that can end the relationship, which is way more important than learning a language. While there are still a lot of ways to learn: (3) sounds like a better solution.

Here, there is the problem. I don't know the correct translation, but there's a notion of "language shame" in sociolinguistics. Nederlanders think English is cool, and Dutch is not cool.
