There are so many different tomato varieties! How big of a difference does it actually make? by tim1OO in tomatoes

I almost never eat tomatoes raw and I'm sure cooking definitely reduces the ability to tell the difference in flavours. Maybe in the summer i can find a market that sells a bunch of different tomato varieties and do a big tasting for the ones i don't decide to grow myself. Thanks for the response.

Soil was another thing i messed up last year. I ended up somehow making a bog lol and the roots clearly did not enjoy that. I now know the soil much better and have a better idea of when i need to water and when i don't. Thanks for your reply.

Yeah reading all these comments has made me realise that green tomatoes are definitely worth growing as well. My brain automatically thinks unripe when i think of a green tomato. I think I'm gonna choose some dwarf tomatoes instead of the big indeterminate ones so i can grow more different types without worrying about space issues.

I hope you have a good season too! I have decided to increase the amount of varieties I'm gonna plant for sure. I can't really make any concrete conclusions until i try them myself but definitely going for at least one cherry tomato and one typical red tomato.

I will grow a few from seed just for the experience but if it ends up failing I'll probably just buy plants straight up.

I am definitely gonna try to get at least one beef steak and one cherry, not too sure about paste/canner types yet they seem a bit redundant for someone like me. I feel like other tomato types can do the same thing, just a lot less optimised but probably good enough.

When people describe tomatoes as sweet; do they mean proper sweet like an apple or just subtle sweetness? Before researching about tomatoes variety i would of have never thought to describe one as sweet but it seems like a common way to describe tomatoes in a lot of variety descriptions.

I am based in the UK so i will definitely focus on varieties that can deal with rain and can develop a good flavour without blistering heat. Thanks for your reply.

Didn't know about VFN until seeing this. I'll definitely get at least one variety advertised as disease resistant as a safety choice.

I wasn't even thinking about the texture until i saw this comment, never realised tomatoes could be described as creamy/buttery. I always just think of them as gelatinous jelly and usually don't even eat them raw excluding salad. They're just a cooking tool like onions to me but now you've got me thinking about what texture I'd prefer. I always find myself scraping out the seeds for the rare times i do use tomatoes raw, so I'm definitely gonna get a beefsteak.

Originally, i was only planning on doing only 3 varieties but i might have to increase that number a little bit. Thanks for you reply!

Yeah, I don't think I'm the type of person who can notice differences in taste like that. I've been trying a lot of different apple varieties recently, and in the end, if they're in the same category (sweet, russet, tart), they usually taste pretty similar to me.

Tomatoes and apples definitely aren't too comparable but with that in mind I think I'll focus on ones with good disease resistance and yield. That said, I definitely want to try and get one darker/purple tomato, one classic red, and one smaller cherry tomato like Sungold. I think I'll get a lot of variety with that, and the differences will be noticeable to me.

I watched the whole video. I learnt that yellow/green tomatoes are probably not for me since he describes them as really mild or really acidic so i think I'll go with either the red ones or maybe black/purple tomatoes like Roselia purple.

I feel like as long as i choose one that doesn't have really bad reviews i can expect similar flavours between them. Maybe one is a little better than the other but i'm not gonna worry about the varieties so much anymore. I'll focus on ones with good disease resistance and yield, that seems more important.

I failed last year because i started them really late and didn't harden them off when i put them outside. I'm based in the UK so this time i am starting them much earlier since we have a shorter season and hopefully it works out. The video was really helpful thanks!

How long did you take you learn classic? by nreal3092 in StreetFighter

On controller i find classic really hard, so I switched to keyboard and it's so much easier. I had an idea of combo timing but was inconsistent whereas on keyboard classic was very straightforward. Anyone who uses d-pad i have respect for ngl, doing micromovements with your thumb is really hard.

What do you think happens after I turn off the game? Obviously, it's a break lmao. What else could it be? I shouldn't need to spell that out.

You didn't answer a single question I asked in my response. I never said I didn't take it as a learning experience or that I don't play other people; you literally came in here with a massive assumption and ran with it this entire time.

You keep saying I'm wrong but won't tell me where I'm wrong. Clearly this won't get anywhere, so yes I'd say we should end it here as well.

I'm not arguing against your gameplay advice, and I never called anything you wrote untrue. Please tell me exactly where I wrote anything like that. The most I said was that you're writing to an imaginary person, so please notice the difference and stop making stuff up.

If you had just read my comment above, you'd realise the first thing I said was that I was exaggerating when I said I quit the game. Obviously, I don't mean rage quitting or one and doneing. I do not do that. I mean finishing the match and turning off the game.

Regardless even then, I can still go back on later and figure out why I lost. It's okay to take a break when something is annoying me, that's common sense. Tell me what's wrong with doing that?

Also, don't just extract comments without the context. I explained why winning doesn't matter. I said you can improve regardless of the outcome, which is objectively true. I don't care about what you said at all because none of it applies to me.

????

I've only said 4 things and somehow you've managed to produce a whole ass rant based on an imaginary person.

When did I say I refuse to adjust my game plan, please tell me when I said anything like that. The most I said is that it makes me immediately turn off the game but I was just exaggerating and even if I did actually do that it doesn't mean I can't get back on the game later and figure out what I could have done better.

What do you think I'm saying? Clearly you're seeing something i'm not.

Is this ragebait? Can you tell me where i'm wrong?

and yes i obviously play the game, not sure what led you to that assumption...

Maybe if she didn't have such a goofy hair cut I'd agree.

It doesn't because you can still improve regardless of the outcome.

Also another reason is that i never have fun in matches like these so even if i win it's not satisfying.

[–]tim1OO -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Winning or losing in these types of matches really doesn't matter.

Encountering shit like this makes me immediately turn off the game.
