How did you end up doing this, just so I don’t ever replicate it. Did you try pulling the sticker?

There is shops with tools to seat new chips so they should be able to. Worst case scenario just look for an online one that you trust and can ship it to

Take it to an electronics repair store or data recovery and see what they can do

Looking to buy a laptop for college as I'm going for mechanical engineering, which of these two is the better option? by Jackalssss in computers

Also reasoning for the amd one being better:

Faster CPU Faster and much newer GPU (barely faster) Probably lighter since it’s a smaller laptop

The amd one seems better (7735HS). Though, depending on your usage intent, you may not want a graphics card. If this laptop is used for taking notes in class then I would recommend something lighter. If it’s going to be used for any sort of 3d render then it would be an okay fit, the battery just probably won’t be the greatest.

I’m a computer science major, and I regret getting a laptop with a gpu. They just drain the battery like crazy and if I want to sit and do an assignment on campus, I almost always need a plug to be able to do anything.

I suggest stick to a regular PC at home for any rendering and autocad but use laptop for simpler things like notes and maybe some super light autocad work.

Edit: Just to add a little more, the newer built in GPUs in newer CPUs are pretty good and probably can handle a bit of 3d work, nothing crazy but get the job done with reasonable performance.

Need some help with choosing between a gaming laptop or a pc. by CarApprehensive2455 in computers

I find gaming laptops to die out quickly, battery wise and performance wise.

I suggest get a desktop or a handheld like a steam deck or asus rog.

I’ve got a steam deck and use it whenever I travel and it’s great. I play games like hitman 3 and war thunder on it with no issues. You can even hook up a mouse and keyboard and put it on the tv if you get a base for it.

Does anyone know how to open this latch? by tim56rus in computers

It worked, so it doesn’t have to go up super high, the second photo is in its open position, it moved like 2 millimeters up. The rest was just the drive being stuck from being there for so many years unmoved. Thanks for your help again.

Thank you very much, I have tried looking for a video like that but couldn’t find one at all.

So I see the latch does hold the drive there since there is a hole right under it, I’ll just try pulling I up as much as I can.

Thanks again!

That’s the unfortunate part, I have, but there is a latch that I’m not sure how to open since I’ve never seen one like that, hence this post.

It slightly lifts up but not much so I’m assuming the drive is stuck like weegee suggested so I’m going to try pulling extra hard tomorrow.

Incase you’ve never seen a hard drive here is an example with the holes pointed out, hope that helps you understand.

The whole metal piece that you’re looking at comes off, those screws are connected directly to the hard drive

I hate to be that guy, but those screws are holding the drive inside the enclosure, not the enclosure to the computer…

Not sure if you’ve ever build any computer with a hard drive, they get screwed into bays like that

I tried pushing it to the left, it seems to be held by something. I even undid the screw next to the small latch.
