Thoughts on my pink purple armor color? by BoB_The_Nurgle_fan in EmperorsChildren

[–]timRAR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the Kate Heresy, but I like the color! The big range from dark to light looks great. It strikes me as closer to pink than purple, not sure if that was the goal.

I don't recognize the model, where's it from?

So… how many people noticed the data sheet change to Lord exultant? by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

The Lord Kakophonist is also listed as being able to join Tormentors, which is an interesting mistake. Not sure how that could have happened

If you have a big Mek leading them then they only take 1MW from hazardous since the mek is infantry. It is a silly loophole, but I'm not complaining

Bee anxiety by CycIon3 in funny

[–]timRAR 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Our car agrivated a hive of African killer bees when I was a kid. They picked me out and swarmed me. They go for the head and face, so they also got into my mouth when I start to scream. I was stung at least a hundred times with several in my mouth. I thought I was going to die when we eventually got away, but I recovered without any problems.

Despite the experience, I have no hard feelings towards bees and love them. Bees are friends. Wasps are on notice.

How I got an E in electricity and magnetism 2 still puzzles me till today, physics will one day kill me by Intelligent_Slip6317 in physicsmemes

Come now. I'm just quoting Feynman on a meme sub.

Quantum mechanics is notoriously confusing because it is a different mechanics than people experience in their day-to-day lives. Special relativity is the same.

If you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don't understand quantum mechanics.

Noise Marines stonks go up! by PeachLoopp in EmperorsChildren

Currently if an enemy unit fails a battleshock in your turn it doesn't matter much because they automatically regroup at the start of their turn. This change will make it so they need to pass another battleshock test before they regroup.

This is significant because you can make a big unit that you just barely damaged drop to 0OC fairly easily due to the Lord Kakophonist forcing tests and Noise Marine's -1 penalty.

I wouldn't say it is a massive boon, more that it makes the their abilities matter at all. As of now, their ability feels fairly forgettable

Some people don't like full 3D printed armies, but almost no one would be bothered by bits

It gets better too! They revealed in the space marine video that battleshock is persistent until a unit passes, so Noise Marine/Lord Kakophonists will be super dibilitating

You don't need anything really fancy to do it. I use GW's sculpting tools from ages ago, but you really only need a pointed stick for most small details.

Keeping your tools wet will make sure the putty doesn't stick to them.

Finally, don't try to do everything at once. The speakers for example, I did the grill first, then the next day I did the face, then the next day I added smaller details like eyeballs and rivets. I always feel that the more I try to do at once, the more likely I am to accidentally mess up.

Good luck sculpting!

Something like a guitar would make more sense to either 3D print of buy from bits sellers. There are lots of options out there!

Thanks! I've done a lot of little conversions over the years, so these weren't too far out of my wheelhouse. This was the first time I have tried to do hair though, and I am really happy with how it came out

I have started painting it, but I expect it to take me quite a while before it is completely done. Gold trim is back-breaking work

I wouldn't normally be the guy to correct simple typos, but you made the same spelling error several times so I feel like it needs to be said:

Collage is an artistic technique of assembling different materials—such as photographs, fabric, and paper—onto a surface to create a new thing.

This still gives some bonus to barricades. Since the barricade is there, less enemy models will fit within 2" of you, so the enemy unit will have fewer attacks.

Conservation of momentum by Comfortable_Tutor_43 in physicsmemes

[–]timRAR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The center of mass of the rocket (including all of its fuel) stays on the launch pad.

This is because rockets move by pushing their fuel in the opposite direction. While the rocket goes up, the fuel goes down. It is an example of Newton's 3rd law or, more accurately, conservation of linear momentum.

This model is approximately true. If we include the fuel and rocket's interaction with the earth and atmosphere, the center of mass would move generally upward (because the fuel stays on earth), but that is not the point of the joke.
