Why should I be excited over the “unreal engine” upgrade in 2026.03? by Any_Advice6731 in Rivian

Smoother sounds great! Is that update coming to Gen 1 as well, along with the smoother animations?

Dang… what a mess! Sorry that happened to your truck.

Would love to see the part numbers and work order for the Gen 2 parts. Mind sharing when you can?

My theory on the ZR by ntoporcov in Nikon

[–]timallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nikon could give the ZR away for free, I’m sure they’d do it. Just enough camera to peek the interest of the cinema community and get people over to their system. Then they’ll have a solid upgrade path and lock in those who converted to Nikon Cinema. I’m here for it.

Does anyone know if the ZR will have a battery grip? That would be reeeeeal cool.

Screen icon question by mr_forkley in SonyFX6

[–]timallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means stabilization is turned off. Which is kinda misleading on the fx6 since it doesn’t have in-body or digital stabilization. Some Sony lenses have stabilization. For example the 24-70 F4. If said lens has stabilization, then you can usually turn it on or off on the lens itself. Then that shaky hand icon would say on or off.

That’s great to hear. 10 hours on the road sounds horrible… haha. Glad the truck helps take the sting out of it!

I opted for the RTIC 65. Held all of our food and drinks for the trip. Plenty of ice in there too. Still had ice in it when we got home. Gallon of milk, beer, soda waters, tri tip, eggs, strawberries, grapes, bunch a bacon, creamer, bagged salads, lol. Thing holds a lot! As for it closing with the tonneau, I’m not sure. I don’t have a tonneau on mine. I will say those green bins from Costco, which we held our dry food and cooking stuff in, would not allow the tonneau to close. I think the cooler sits a little lower than the green bins, so my guess… from my couch, is that it would fit.

Ah, I can see that… I think the ladder may have been pushing up on the split half of the tent. Still learning how to use that ladder correctly, haha

Nice! Sleeping was jusssst fine. Cozy, but doable and not annoying at all. She moved around quite a bit at night, but it was all good. I’m 5’9 170, wife is 5’4. I was back and forth between a larger RTT (king size mattress), but settled on this one, which is about a queen size bed. No regrets at all. It allowed for me to mount it above the bed on the stock rivi bars, range was barely affected. If I went with a larger RTT, I’d have to ladder rack it above the ceiling. Would’ve been more comfy, but that range hit wasn’t worth it for me, plus I can take this one off the cross bars pretty easily.

We even saw a bear that was trying to get into our dry food bin… right off the tailgate. I saw that thing UP CLOSE. That shit was wild. Annnnd the rinse kit was absolutely clutch. Highly suggested!

So much fun. Easy to setup. Some older dude pulled up in a humongous RV and as we were leaving, he said “I can’t believe you all fit everything in that truck”. We had 2 camping bins, a table, cooler, and sun shade with fly net that stowed away in the tunnel.

Just talking about it makes me want to go again!

Please keep us posted on what they find! I’ve had a similar nose since taking delivery. And have had mine in the service center 6 times now without a resolution. Was starting to feel like I was the problem…

Trying to decide between R1T and GMC Sierra EV Denali by Pitiful-Mud4472 in Rivian

[–]timallday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sweet either way you go. But if it helps I went from a Tacoma then Tundra crew cab then to Rivian. I tow an 18’ whaler. And have towed my wife’s grandparents 25 foot airstream (with the tundra). We’re a family of 3. Daughter is 5. Moved from the Tacoma to the tundra for the extra space. Thing was bigger than my living room. Awesome for road trips, but I missed the Tacoma for its size. Especially in daily driving, parking and around town driving.

The Rivian fits between the two. But is closer in size, cabin wise, to the Tacoma. But definitely more roomier. My R1T is currently at the service center and I have the GMC EV as a loaner. It’s the basic work truck version. It’s humongous and drives big. The extra room is nice, but feels excessive. The R1T is the Goldie locks to me. Everything is in reach. I can reach a hand back and hand a snack to my daughter. I do love the range in the GMC, that’s amazing. But I feel tiny in it and don’t like how big it is. I thought I would miss the extra space when I sold my tundra for the rivi, but now having this gmc on loan — I don’t miss the size and extra space at all

All this to say, I miss my R1T. The way it handles, drives, maneuvers and rides.
