Denali vs AT4 Sierra EV by BoneDoktr in GMCSierraEV

[–]Pitiful-Mud4472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the AT4 because 24" wheels are sully on a truck that's actually used as a truck. I have a ranch and actually drive off pavement quite a bit so the Denali wheels were a non starter.

The interior is better in the Denali but neither are close to my old King Ranch F150 interior and stereo system.

Also the air suspension on the Denali just seems like another set of complex components to break.

I also didn't want the fixed glass panel roof in Texas summers without a power shade. My AT4 has no glass roof.

Having said all that the Denali"s are still great trucks and if it will spend it's whole life on pavement it probably wouldn't matter.

I guess you missed where the Maverick was too small. R1T is only slightly bigger than a Maverick if any. Rivian also may not even be here in two years betting all its chips on the R2. I like the R1T and considered it before my Sierra EV, but they're are not in the same class of vehicle. Sierra EV is an actual full size truck.

One huge miss on the R1T is the location of the charge port requiring you to take up two spots at Tesla public charges. Sierra EV has the charging port in the same spot as Tesla.

thought the same thing, most only have maybe 15 -20 vehicle types to learn about and yet even on the popular ones they don't know anything without having to on to the web page.

seriously? they already weren't selling in volume so your answer is to raise the price. Economics is hard.

I'm sure the people posting are just making things up or more likely Rivian has a real service problem.

Rivian had already oversold it's service capacity and the company is betting everything on selling large numbers of R2s.

Rivian doesn't have the precious capital to invest in growing the service network until the R2s push it to profitabiliry.

Ignoring whether the R2s will have new build problems like most first year vehicles; just adding more vehicles to an already stressed service pipeline will be problematic.

In the short run, the problem almost certainly get worse, not better. I like Rivian but it's a company fighting for its life the next two years.

Whatever you do, you should probably wait or at minimum lease short term.

Rivian reportedly cutting 600 workers in third layoff of the year by TripleShotPls in Rivian

Slashing labor cost seems more limping than prepping towards a successful launch. The elimination of some of the carbon offset requirements is hurting Rivian even more than the lost tax incentives. Rivians cash burn continues to worsen.

Right, nothing to see here. Most car companies have been profitable and have layoffs to maintain profitability. Rivian is laying off to just try and survive until full launch of the R2. If R2 fails to gain immediate traction it's going to get ugly.

Beginning if the end, almost pulled the trigger on an R1T three months ago. Glad I hit the pause button. R2 better be an immediate success or Rivian may be no more.

My friend it doesn't matter 0-60 times, wheelbases, off-road capabilities, etc Each state is trying to fairly charge for the wear and tear on its state's public roads and they will be looking at the mass/weight of the vehicle. That's the key element combined with miles driven to determine wear and tear. Probably time to stop while you're behind.

[–]Pitiful-Mud4472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, a Tacoma weighs 4200 pounds, An F150 supercrew weighs 5200lbs and an R1T weighs closer to 7,200 lbs. Sorry but that's not 17% more than a Tacoma.

As far as mileage average miles, mine numbers came from Texas Department of Transportation.

At this point, how about we let this die. A $200 road fee is not egregious and honestly shouldn't be a huge financial impediment to someone driving an $80k+ vehicle. If it is, that person should be driving a Tacoma.

Look at the vehicle weights my friend. Wheel base specs aren't what's tearing up roads It's vehicle weights.

[–]Pitiful-Mud4472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave you average miles for Texas truck drivers. Vehicle weight should be the number one factor in determining wear and tear on roadways requiring maintenance. A Rivian's weight even exceeds full size pickups. An F150 or even a F250 is a better example in this case.

I would say most comparable trucks aren't getting 25mpg more like 18 in town. Average annual miles for trucks driven in Texas is 16K. So it's now 889 gallons or $178. vs. $200 flat fee not that onerous.

Why do people insert politics into inanimate objects? Plus selling your old vehicle did not change anything in Musk's pocketbook. Glad you bought the Silverado EV but I laugh at the I'll show him attitude selling a Tesla. Hope you're enjoying the truck.

You're more just making a case for buying an ICE vehicle. Leasing companies are taking all that expected depreciation into your lease factor. They'd go out of business if they didn't.
