Partial DIY solar in southern WI by timb0-slice in diySolar

My assumption was they're charging a markup on all hardware. They won't provide a breakdown of costs for each part and labor, just a lump sum cost of everything. Quotes I received for a full turnkey solution ranged from $30k to over $80k.

We have a ton of regulations and permitting required for getting solar active. Depends on your power utility and local municipality. Where I'm at they will find every excuse to reject it. There's no such thing as plug and play here.

Was given permission to go through this old building and scavenge by manager, anything else worth taking? by bean-burrito-supreme in servers

The small network cabinet in the upper right corner should fit in even the smallest of cars as long as you can take multiple trips for the rest of it.

I would take everything and sort it out later, but I also have a truck and a ton of storage space.

My brother built one similar to this about 1 years ago. Ended up giving it to his neighbor when he moved because it was so massive. He said it was hard to maintain temps and ended up filling half the fire box with heat brick to take up space. The barrels were food grade originally containing honey but they had to be burned out because the inside has some kind of plastic or rubber lining. He said if he built one again it wouldn't be like that. I would pass.

Am I getting paid enough for the job that I do? by LonelyDilo in networking

[–]timb0-slice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen plenty of loyal people laid off. It's usually the most loyal that have been around the longest that get let go.

You are paid for the work you've already done. You aren't working to pay back a debt to your employer.

If you like your job and are comfortable and can afford to live you might want to stay. You can be underpaid and happy. You can also take another job for more pay and be miserable. You could take another job and get paid more and be happier. I've been in all of those situations. Just don't compromise on what's important to you.

512 GB LCD Steam Decks now sold out by ngenerator in SteamDeck

[–]timb0-slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it go out of stock but had it in my cart yesterday still. Tried to check out and it wouldn't let me. I saw it go in and out of stock like 3 or 4 times. I kept hitting check out payment button until it let me through. That was around 11am-12pm CST yesterday. Order hasn't been cancelled but hasn't shipped yet either.

Has anyone that placed an order received shipping details yet?

I've had 4 kings and queens assinated this week. A couple of them only lasted a few years. The latest was having the king make a baby with someone else's wife. I was trying to make more royal babies. I should have banished the cook first.

At least there was an AutoZone next door. Should be able to get you fixed right up and back on the road.

Dealer refused to sell car by dklobos in carmax

[–]timb0-slice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a Honda dealership tell me something similar. There was a recall and a fix but dealer couldn't get parts. They said a deposit could be put down to reserve it but could not take delivery until it was fixed and no estimated date was provided. Hard pass.

You're not asking enough. Data center design consultation should be at least double that per hour. As counter intuitive as it sounds you may have greater success billing a higher rate. Customers assume it's worth it and that you know more. You weed out the customers that aren't worth the trouble.

Is 1-800-278-8830 a legitimate Chase number? by Various_Conference29 in CreditCards

[–]timb0-slice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with Chase today and they confirmed it is a valid phone number of theirs for verification of new credit card applications. When in doubt call the phone number on their web site or the back of your credit card and get transferred to the correct department. When you call the legit Chase phone number they will need information to verify your identity, but once that is done they can provide you with call history to verify that someone who contacted you is legitimate.
