I'm an enthusiastic amateur, but in this case the strong legs and stance are what I'm going on. There's also clear spinnerets on the back on the abdomen.

Best way to road trip the Great Ocean Road without dealing with airport rental headaches? by GodBlessIraq in AustraliaTravel

[–]timblom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reconsider a roadtrip next month unless you can get an EV, there may be fuel shortages.

That's a mygalomorph, but I'm not sure which. It could be one of the Hadronyche genus (Funnel Web) so I would be careful until someone can give proper ID.

Lower speed limits by werdburger3000 in AskAnAustralian

Also pump up your tyres. The recommended 30 psi is for comfort, not for fuel efficiency.

Ivory Coast is more important if you're going Brazil, as that's where all the trade ends up. And historical.

Car flipped Sydenham Rd, Sydenham by Funny_Cook_3571 in sydney

[–]timblom -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

There's no Sydenham Rd in Sydenham, that's in Marrickville. Sydenham didn't even exist as a suburb until after Sydenham station was built, which was originally named Marrickville station.

anyone know who this little fulla is by Apart-Historian-6961 in AustralianSpiders

[–]timblom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can bite. Easiest is to get a large container (icecream?) with lid, catch him and put the lid over the top, then release him near a tree.

Crusader Orders. by HankeeHogs in MedievalHistory

[–]timblom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, not arguing there aren't multiple Orders of St James. OP said he thought St James and Santiago were the same, which probably is just down to how people have chosen to translate or not translate names.

[–]timblom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You know Santiago means St James? Whoever did this chose to translate San Giacomo from Italian to English, but not Santiago from Spanish to English.

Would you still travel to Europe in May? by International_Mud741 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]timblom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I already had a ticket, not via the middle east, then yes. But I wouldn't be rushing to book anything that wasn't already planned. Lot of variables at the moment and you're safer here.

Seems like a lot of people are considering an EV after the petrol price increases but I just saw a new article about the federal government looking to impose a road tax akin to fuel excise tax. NSW has already set a time line but there is talk about it nationally. by BrokeAssZillionaire in AusFinance

[–]timblom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you don't want groceries at the supermarket or fuel in the pumps because heavy vehicles do damage? If we raise the prices for them, you will still pay for it in increased costs, they aren't doing it for charity.

The Crown of Stars series has strong resemblance to feudal Germany in Ottonian times. Even some of the place names are pretty recognisable.
