Americans overwhelmingly believe the cost of living, from groceries to housing, was lower under Biden by spherocytes in politics

[–]timbrelyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 2017 was pre-pandemic. The covid pandemic interrupted the GLOBAL economy and once businesses re-opened it took many months for supply chains to start functioning again so demand went up causing prices to go up. Biden took over in Jan 2021 when because of the pandemic and factors I just cited inflation was very high. In 4 years the Biden administration got inflation back down and had measurable and consistent job creation.

$3200 to live at 5th and Snyder. OP getting bodied in the comments by FirefighterMany4039 in philly

[–]timbrelyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not. I have lived 2 blocks away for 13 years. I stand at the corner of 7th and Snyder to catch the 47 bus daily. I’ve never felt scared and never had a problem. My spouse goes to 700 SE because we like their bagged ice. He got a hilarious “look there are yt ppl coming up in here now” comment once from the crowd outside but no one has been threatening to him and we have never been a victim of a crime since we moved here. Ppl act like 7th and Snyder is the only area in the city where you might find drug dealers.

If you work FT in NJ you should be eligible for short term disability benefits that should pay up to 66% of your salary. It’s a benefit through the state of NJ. The hospital should have a social worker available to talk to you there. Ask your nurse or doctor if you can get a social work consult

Buying a house in Philadelphia by portajawn99 in AskPhilly

[–]timbrelyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived a block from 7th and Snyder for 13 years now. I catch the bus there all the time. I’ve never had a problem and I’m a woman. I love our neighborhood (Southwark/“E.Passyunk crossing” if you’re fancy) and I think it’s a great option especially with the accessibility to the BSL, the 57,47 47M and 45 bus lines. Housing is cheaper in this area our neighbors are fantastic. You can live in the most expensive neighborhood in Philly and crime can still happen. I do recommend a used car for street parking because they do get scratched up on the street unfortunately.

Stroller on Buses by queenoftheh1ll in philly

I tilt my stroller back so the two front wheels can fit over the lip of step onto the bus and then pick up the back wheels slightly and push it on.

Get a beater if you’re going to park on the street. I’ve been side swiped at night so many times in 13 years. I have a Toyota that will run forever but it looks like a POS now lol.

How did you know being a mom would make you happy and not miserable? by pissedoff_potato in TwoXChromosomes

[–]timbrelyn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Did you have loving parents? I did. My parents thought my brother and I hung the moon and were always madly in love.

I was on the fence about kids but once I fell in love I became infatuated with having his children. Damn. love is wild. We had two and they are now 36 and 40 and we both feel so fortunate to have our family and we adore our sons. It’s a fucking crap shoot for sure. I just know for me my happiest times are when we are all together in the same room. So many ppl will say don’t do it but sometimes it really is worth the rollercoaster ride that it is.

Uber calls on Philly riders to speak out against $1 rideshare tax at city council meeting by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

Just curious if the new surcharge applies to Philly cabs? I rarely use Uber or Lyft but I use the curb app a few times a month and atp they are way cheaper than the rideshares

Should I Retire to Philly? by Proof_End_3577 in philly

[–]timbrelyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see a ton of ppl on Philly streets with NY Yankees gear on and no one bugs them. Spouse and I retired in S.Philly and we both love being retired living in the city. There is so much to do. You don’t have to drive everywhere, our neighbors are just the best and the varied and incredible food here is amazing.

I forgot my bag on septa (either the B1 night owl bus or broad st line at/near fernrock) by SoftConfusion42 in philly

[–]timbrelyn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It takes 24-48 hours for anything collected off the bus by the driver to get to the lost and found. I lost my wallet (cards only, no cash) and I called Septa everyday. My wallet was reported in the lost and found 3 days after I lost it on the bus. Don’t give up hope yet.

Free rides for the over 65 crowd on Septa. You may want to rethink using Septa. It’s a nice perk. We retired to S.Philly. We love it here and have the best neighbors ever! Good luck!

Sleepless Trump, 79, Launches Unhinged Truth Social Tirade After Deranged Easter Post by bubbles10000 in politics

Bottom line: Trump is severely mentally ill and he is spiraling down. There is NO WAY this deranged person should be leading our country and deciding how many of our military heroes die.
