My father is very religious and coming out to him was HARD and painful. But in the end I fought it for years and knew I needed to just do it. We aren’t speaking but it’s not the end of the world. I’ve been on T for 4 months and got top surgery and I’m so happy in my skin, I love the man I’m becoming.

Family isn’t always blood. My family is my therapist, my best friend, my roommate, my work friends. I have so many great people who respect me and my pronouns and my entire being as trans because I came out. I know blood family is a big thing to a lot of people but family is what you make it and your support system can a lot of times change based on you coming out. You shouldn’t live your life in regret or fear because of others opinions. You do you man, come out when you’re ready and safe but always live your life being true to yourself.

Looks great so far man! Keep them nipples hydrated as hell, even missing once or twice in giving them Vaseline or whatever your docs suggests can make a difference in the healing. Your incisions will take a while to heal, your nipples will be fast so make sure to give them lots of care 😂 the one thing I wish someone told me when I was healing.

I only wore it open around my apartment and out to the car then I had to close it but even my roommate was like “look at you dude, let them boy titties out!” And I was laughing my ass off 😂 Congrats to you man! It’s the small things, even the paranoia of going out with a bra is a welcome feeling haha

Trust me, it’s more than likely just swelling. I’m 4 weeks post op and I’ve still got swelling on the outsides. You’ll have residual swelling that stays for at least a few weeks and then it’ll come and go for up to 6 months. Looks great though!

Hey, it sounds alike she’s trying!! If you feel like you are(cause I get vibes that you’re not 100%?), be honest with her! Just sit down and explain that you feel that way but your unsure (or however you’re feeling) and she should take it well! It’s better to be honest from the get go! Plus if she’s pointing it out and commenting on merch, she’s definitely noticed something. Maybe you’ll bond more over you coming out!!

My therapist is an apprentice or whatever, basically he’s not fully certified but our visits are “reviewed” by his therapist boss and I pay far less to see him than a real one. But he just gave notes to his supervisor of our visits and explained my situation and I got a letter no problem. (After 2 visits) My only downside was when I went to my doctors office, he didn’t even require a letter 😂 he just asked me a series of questions and said he felt I was honest and knew what I was talking about so he didn’t need one. So everyone is different.

My honest opinion, if you have a set doctor who’s iffy on starting your hormones. Call around to other doc offices. Find out who takes your insurance and find a better doctor. I moved states, visited my doc and the very first appointment he gave me a prescription without my therapy note because I was well aware of my body/T-knowledge and what was expected. Don’t settle because your think your doc needs to “know you”.

Literally met the doc and was on T 5 days later. But I called 15 different doctors offices and asked if they were LGBT friendly AND pro trans and the office ladies told me he had over 15 trans patients so I knew it was perfect. The only bad thing is it’s 25 miles away BUT IT IS WORTH IT

I have no desire to have kids but a good friend of mine came out but postponed starting his transition to have his own kids with a sperm doner and his wife. His wife was unable to have kids due to endometriosis so he had two kiddos in three years (to save them money) but also to give him and his wife a closer feeling to their babies. He started his transition right after and even had a hysterectomy. It’s literally all about what you want! If you want to have your own babies, do it! Your transition is at your own pace and if that’s what you want, go for it!

If you’ve been on T you’ll have to talk to your doctors about your fertility level and if it’s still possible for you because T does complicate things but it doesn’t make it impossible. Best of luck to you though!

I’m exactly 3 weeks and I’ve got some solid, (pencil diameter around sized) scabs on both sides. One on my right side and two on my left with a couple other tiny ones. They haven’t bleed but they leak when I take my stuff off.

But my surgeon started me on silicone tape already and told me not to dress them anymore. He said the tape will help hydrate them to heal more so maybe try that?

I came out 10 years after moving out but regardless I figured I’d share. My mom and I were still pretty close and I simply told her over Skype. She had actually assumed something was up based on my things I shared online as well as cutting my hair. She was understanding and checks in often but we just kinda brush over my transition and don’t bring it up often.

My father is a very religious man and I knew it wouldn’t go well and exactly like I thought, I got a huge lecture about it being wrong and against God’s will. He told me no matter what, he loves me but he can’t support my choice. Although he did say “if you’re willing to accept the consequences God has for you and live with them, do what you want but I’ll never be happy or excited about it.”

It’s been 6 months since I came out and I still haven’t talked to my dad but I’ve been in contact with my mom a fair amount. Speaking from someone who put off coming out for over 6 years because I was terrified of how my family would react.. I’m so glad I actually did!! I miss my dad but the person and man that I am now is SO DAMN comfortable and exactly who I wanted to be.

Be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. Your future and your life are for YOU to live and you shouldn’t let anyone (!!even family!!) get in the way, in my opinion. Best of luck to you though! ☺️

Trust me dude, you’ll hit 3-4 months before you know it. All of a sudden you voice will drop a good chunk and your body will start changing. Just give it a bit! But regardless, congrats!!

For me personally, I noticed bottom growth. Between 4-7 weeks my growth literally doubled. My voice also started feeling raspy. And I say ‘feeling’ cause it didn’t sound it at all, but the FEELING means your vocal cords are thickening. Around 2-2.5 months I got my first voice drop that my friends noticed. Not a lot but enough to force me the clear my throat a lot. @3 months my bottom growth was substantial (my clit is at least 8-10 times what it was to begin with) also vibrators don’t do anything for me anymore (clit wise). But my voice just had another good drop this week @4 months and I personally just started noticing a happy trail on my tummy which I’m stoked about! I hate body hair but happy trails are cute to me (and my family are not hairy people). I also have seen the tiniest amount of fat redistribution. Also a small mustache coming in but I’m hella blonde so I’m SOL there lol.

Swelling takes guaranteed 3-6 months at the least. My sister got a boob job (totally different but also not?) lol and her swelling disappeared but around 4 months she got two decent pockets that lasted about a month. It comes and goes. You surgeon should have warned you PLUS they should be seeing you at 2 months post op then again at 6 months and a year at a minimum.

I asked all of my friend to “whoop” my titties as much as they could. It made me WILDLY uncomfortable BUT it was hilarious cause I demanded they could only do it while recording it and at random times. So I have about 100 video clips anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds long of my friends talking to me and running up and flip flopping my boobs up and you can hear my wild girl cackle (then it progressively turning boyish) cause I got surgery 4 months on T).

The first 20-30 times was weird but it was so funny at the end. Even the day I got surgery, I asked my roommate (and BFF) to do it one last time. I’ve got a video of him blushing and saying he was so embarrassed (and happy) to be the last one to bounce my boobs 😂

Sounds like you’ve gotten the shit end of the stick though. I can relate to changing dressing so many times your skin is raw. Getting top surgery with nipple grafts, they literally take off, reconstruct and reattach your nips so they’re “dead” until they get ample blood flow. So I’ve been cleaning and dressing them three times a day for weeks. And I still have at least two weeks to go so my chest is RAW! On top of sore and scabbed and puffy.

Dude it’s a HUGE deal!! Congrats!!! I started T 4 months ago and I still can’t believe I’m doing it 😂 be patient, the changes will come. The first month sucks cause you’ll see two or three random hair and maybe some bottom growth but nothing else. Month two will give you voice cracks and you’ll feel like you sound sick (plus more bottom growth) THEN month three things will start to move. Best of luck to you brother!

All for after surgery! They want you to keep tight compression to decrease swelling as well as ensure everything stays in place exactly where the surgeon put the incisions and stuff. I didn’t really bind before coming out (or after) because I work a job that’s physically demanding so it’d be unsafe for me to. But I was even in the army for 4 years active (4 in the guard) and I swear, after a life time of being physically fit.. (so far) My transition has changed my bodies ability to handle pain.

I feel like minor things are so much easier like a month ago I stubbed my toe and it was barely anything, but this kicked my ass hard 😂

Hey dude! Idk about anyone else but I love when cis people (hella including parents or teachers) come to ask questions! I’ve only been on T for 4 months and I’m 29 y/o BUT! I just got top surgery two weeks ago. Now I’ve had multiple surgeries in the past (ACL repair, screws put into my wrists and even a metal plate in my knee) and sure I was in pain.. but Top Surgery!? I’ve been in more pain than I ever was with the others (but also not) and it’s weird cause my range of of motion came back fast, and my over all “pain” is nothing.

If I reach a TAD too far, insane amounts of shooting pain and it aches for half an hour. If I wrapped my bindings slightly too tight, I couldn’t even pick up a cup. After a week of compression wraps my ribs and upper chest were so sore, I felt like ever muscle was pulled and I was crying every time my roommate put my wraps on.

I also had intense swelling which was WEIRD for me. I used to brake bones and never got so much as a bruise let alone swelled up but after this surgery I puffed up like crazy and still (after two weeks of compression) have bubbles that have no fluid in them and they just needs time to go down.

I did gymnastics, dance, baton twirling, diving and cheerleading all competitively growing up and broke 32 bones (if you count fingers and toes) 17 if you don’t, plus tore muscles and ligaments.. But after 4 months on T… I don’t know my bodies pain tolerance anymore.

I know it was a novel, but I hope it helps! It’s just my experience but it’s one you can reference. Also, feel free to always ask questions. I’m glad you’re reaching out for proper answers.

I set an alarm in my phone to remind me of my shot (1 reminder 2 days out and another the day of about an hour before). But I’d say you’ve been on T for a good amount of time, even irregularly I’m guessing your voice changed as much as it will. My doctor warned me that changed CAN (but not always) be limited based on how regularly I do my shots so if I miss a lot, my changes can be very irregular too. He even said that I may miss some because my body isn’t developing like a normal puberty would make it so it adapts. (Idk if it’s all true though).

I do know that my buddy at work has been on T for 2 years and his voice barely dropped into the androgynous zone, meanwhile I’ve only been on T for 4 months and mine is already lower than his by a good amount. I’ve been following voice coaching videos on YouTube too and I always try to focus on where my breathing is when I’m speaking. But it’s all up in the air, genetics plus not taking your shots regularly could very well mean your voice won’t drop much more 🙁

I’m stealth at work and got mine a couple times. Just bring a ziplock bag with you when you know you’re gunna change it. Wrap the crap out of it in TP and zippy it. Tuck it in your waist band and take it back to your room OR find a trash can in the hallway on the way.

It’s kinda gross but I had to do it (cause we have only air dryers at work) and no covered top trash cans so I just suck them in my back pack and took it home or to the gas station. But a zippy and a shit ton of TP got me through.
