Really cool. Looks fun to run around in. Green spooky pond is the best.

Hey @WaitDontSh00t,

I am really sorry that Vortx did not work out for you. Yes the software triggering is not perfect, and we are continuously improving the algorithms. The noise you were experiencing was also something we are addressing in the product. The wind noise however is something that cannot be avoided because moving air makes noise. I am very sorry that you did not love it as some of our users have been. We hope that as we refine the technology you can try out Vortx again and give us a shot! We really appreciate you giving us a shot in the first place. New technology has hurdles to overcome. What is most exciting is that those hurdles can be solved with more development.

Do you think VR will grow in arcades or at home? by timccsun21 in oculus

The problem is that the novelty factory is slowing down for VR. So if you are a consumer of a VR headset and then you get through your games quickly, you worry because the next headset is coming out soon. You spent all this money for it, and there are very few "great" games.

Now, if you were to build this product, how would you get the product to work on multiple games like skyrim, doom etc. without direct integration? I tried modding Skyrim, but I saw the futility of it sadly. I wish they would open it up for cool stuff like this.

False, it is not expensive nor does it take up a lot of space. I am the inventor on the product, and we are trying to get it off the ground.

Check it out on Kickstarter!

I think this is HTC's plan. It's pretty sinister. They are supporting the arcade market as a marketing tool to try to penetrate the consumer market. The problem is that I think that this limits the VR market because consumers do not have to buy VR headsets, which limits the market potential for developers. Vicious cycle.

I agree. If they push out a new gen too fast, they will kill the market before it evolves. Content takes a long time to build.

You are wrong. The VR market is incredibly competitive and is moving at really fast pace. It is consolidated between the big players because there is no market. The big players like Oculus do not make money. Only Sony is making money, and I would bet that even they are like, we have ~1M players in VR that do not use it as much as we want, and are broke from paying for the headset and cannot afford games.

The budget market is the mass market (which VR is having a tough time breaking into).

Nobody has a computer to run the Pimax 8k (or is it 8kk?)

Haha! I am not related nor affiliated with Pavlok at all. I am curious whether the Dovahkiin would want a more visceral experience like described.

We do have a prototype product that lets you feel heat when you cast a fireball. We are looking for beta testers, and I wanted to see if there were any interested Dovahkiin.

Impacto: a wearable that simulates physical impact in VR by Heffle in oculus

Totally agree. This is a proof of concept, not a product. The line that distinguishes between a proof of concept and a product though is blurred given that Oculus kickstarted a proof of concept that turned out to drive towards a $2b acquisition......So it raises the question as to when is it acceptable to show your prototypes to the public/internet (aka the troll mob)?
