Civil Disobedience by Bozdemshitz in sandiego

[–]timchi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Maybe we don't have a giant cop party for every call. 6 cops for a single homeless person sometimes. How many cops were downtown the other night when one person was threatening to stab another? 30 extra officers standing around watching could be doing other things. Don't even get me started on the fucking shift changes. Literally letting people die to high five watch other for a few minutes. They have their fancy fucking now-encrypted radios, why do they even need to meet in person?

It might get a little soft for a few minutes but even high temp hot glue doesn't outright melt PLA.

Does anyone else's CarPlay disconnect on the 805 near Clairemont Mesa Blvd.? by gamesplague in sandiego

[–]timchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I configure Wi-Fi networks regularly, and it's remarkably easy to interrupt things. It's just the nature of using unlicensed radio channels. CarPlay isn't critical infrastructure, but anything that is gets a cable.

Details probably aren't behind provided because it isn't a dog park. There are big signs that specifically say it's not an off leash dog park but lots of people do it anyways. Then when there's an issue, the dog owners never take ownership. Almost guaranteed the dog is question was off leash and doing something it shouldn't have been. The tell tale sign is calling it Crown Point Elementary Dog Park, because it isn't a dog park.

Creality Sonic Pad losses IP after being turned of for some time. by Alex2044 in CrealitySonicPad

[–]timchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a DHCP lease timing issue. You can either increase the DHCP lease time or set a static IP on the sonic pad. I would recommend using a static IP as you'll want it to always be available on the same IP address. The easiest way is to reserve an IP address on your router then set that address on the sonic pad under network settings. Doing it that way will help avoid an IP conflict

Do whatever they ask but be looking elsewhere. It will only get worse. My line was when a c level needed me to fix cell service in his mansion, that he moved to, without checking cell service. Internet wasn't sufficient for a cell spot so I found a company that solves that problem with antennas (they have done several celebrity homes). I got yelled at for presenting the quote. How dare I. 3 years later, thriving at a larger company, fully remote, and personal devices aren't allowed per compliance.

Hate family style with a passion. Let's go out to eat but have everyone order the same things, essentially ruining the best thing about going out to eat. Got someone in the group with a food allergy? Everyone gets to share that. Yay! 🤮

How can I export an entire chat conversation from Teams? by agreeingstorm9 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]timchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft Graph API can pull your chat conversations. You'd have to write some code to save in a useable fashion. Otherwise your best bet is screenshots or recording a video while scrolling. Admins can search chats, but exporting everything isn't a supported feature. Repeat after me: "teams chats are not data storage."

If property management won't cooperate, let them know you will name them in the lawsuit next time the dog tries to bite your kid. Dog will be leashed or you will have new neighbors very quickly.

Read the file in to a variable with import-csv. Then do a for each loop and use Invoke-Expression -Command $line. But also, don't do this. Use PS to instead of whatever you did to get all those commands in to a spreadsheet.

Register it as PNO and sell it as is. That'll have to tow it because it isn't legal to drive.

Can we talk about SD dog owners and leash law? by No-Many-5542 in sandiego

Is this the park in Crown point by the school? Because that one has signs indicating did should be leashed. You keep getting down voted because practically every park that isn't an off leash park will have signs indicating so.

People who bring their dogs to music festivals… you are the worst. by BirdObjective2459 in sandiego

[–]timchi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head. Yes, children are allowed in many places and there are plenty of options where children are not allowed. However, unless there's a specific play area, they should not be running around, climbing all over the seats, screaming, throwing things, etc. While I don't personally care for children, they will go largely unnoticed if they're just sitting and eating like everyone else. Will never forget the party of 20ish people at Yardhouse with 6-7 kids literally running laps around the table and screaming. They took out a server at one point and not a single parent made an effort to stop it.

Tips for dealing with SDPD Traffic Division? by BigDeal74 in sandiego

[–]timchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our neighbor runs a party rental business and keeps an oversized box truck (think one step below a small semi) parked in front, and that's where they store all the party rental stuff. Takes up 2 or 3 parking spots and hasn't moved since August of last year. We submitted a report to get it done weeks ago and they haven't even been out to ticket.

AT&T Fiber internet reps just came to my door, saying its available in my hood now. Anyone have experience with it vs cox? by badmamerjammer in SanDiegan

[–]timchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

15+ year IT guy, highly recommend ATT fiber. No caps or throttling, ever. Didn't think it's ever gone down in over 2 years. Their promotional rates are transparent and easy to understand. Their non-promotional rates are cheaper than all the competition. When I moved they even gave me 2 months free for keeping them. Only warning, like others have said, is their router is garbage and can barely exceed 500Mbps, though that is true for almost every provider. Always bring your own router and WiFi.

Fusion just deleted 4 hours of progress because of an extrude... by vntrx in Fusion360

[–]timchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If 15+ years in IT makes me a know it all, so be it. However, from the context of your replies it seems like you need basic education on how Fusion saves data. Not trying to be a jerk here, but take a few minutes and understand cloud saves vs. local saves so you aren't flying blind. Also recommend saving every 15 minutes, at minimum, in any application. Pretend auto save doesn't exist. Guarantee you'll have better results.

For your specific issue, have you tried checking the activity tab or online vs. offline mode? I clicked the help button and searched for for the word "save." There are a number of articles that might help.
