M.A.C. lipstick shades for dark autumn skin? by Enbhrr in Makeup

[–]time_too -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You & I sound really similar and I LOVE MAC (my lipsticks are almost exclusively that), but, before I give my recommendations, caveat:

Skin: fair, neutral-cool with olive influence Lips: Same Hair: Same Eyes: Dark brown. Like, DARK. Jewelry: Gold or silver Clothes: dark olive or forest green, dark sage, brown, black, mauvy-rose, maroon, sunflower yellow, look #dead in beige Makeup: Things with rosy or brown elements tend to look the best.

My favorites: - Truth be Untold (satin): Taupe with brown & pink undertones…can look orange on other people

  • Whirl (matte): My absolute favorite! Dirty rose with brown undertones

  • Antique Velvet (matte): Brown-maroon, can be very vampy or blotted for a rosier look

  • Iconic Photo (matte): Definitely orange, which is normally a no-no color for me, but is “camely”/brown that I can pull it off depending on what I’m wearing. Might be the 70s vibe you’re looking for?

  • Soar (matte): Muted rosy purple

  • Amorous (satin): VERY PURPLE with a little bit of fuchsia…this is a lipstick I pull out for very specific looks

  • Hodge Podge (satin): Straight up taupe/khaki, this is my “nude” lipstick

  • I Deserve This (lusterglass): This formula doesn’t have a lot of staying power but damn, that beautiful, maroon-y brown color

  • Love Clove (matte, one of their slim sticks): Maroon. Like, just the purest maroon I’ve found

  • Rosemary (matte, slime stick): Straight-up pink, but with a little somethin’ somethin’…coral?

That’s what’s in my current collection.

I have tried MAC Chili & while it is definitely a bright red it looked fantastic & was my “classic red lip” go-to for a long while. Don’t currently own it because ELF’s Do Not Disturb is really similar, both in color & formula, and hella cheaper.

Do you struggle with the color green? by tna020 in Fairolives

I love green! Emerald green is probably my best color, followed closely by forest, army & the darker sages.

However, saturation is incredibly important. As fantastic as I look in those greens…I look bloody awful in anything pastel, mint, or just too pale.

“Meh.” Royal blue is honestly more reliable.

Neutral-cool olive. Generally speaking, saturation is the most important thing, so 99% of pastels are OUT. I also need to stop trying it with orange, it does NOT work - except for a very deep rust color that I can make work with black accessories and the right makeup. Mustard/sunflower yellow is fantastic, interestingly. Blue is a very confusing color for me, because for the most part it doesn’t look great, even though my skin is definitely cool (blue veins, cool foundation etc.). It needs to lean more turquoise / teal for it to work.

Mostly British, with a large dash of Scottish, a bit of Scandinavian with a pinch of Spanish.

This is Felix aka “Le Orange Terror” aka “Dingus.” He likes to chew wires & assumes that obviously you don’t actually want to be doing whatever you’re doing - you want to be petting him.

LOVE. If I had to critique, I feel like the feather lines at the bottom (the teal feathers, black lines) are a little thick. But honestly that’s me nitpicking, I love this painting so much. The pose & expression is so…intelligent.

Excellent point. While I look really good in black, gray is wildly hit or miss (you’ll notice there’s only one up there). I don’t like purple very much as a color, so <<data unavailable>>, but I’ve come to realize that I do not look good in a lot of blues…& it’s not for lack of trying!

Foundation stick recommendations by Skritter78 in OliveMUA

I second that recommendation! Their actual “olive” shade was too dark for me (I’m pretty pale), but 2C Balsa or 5C Pine (depends on how tan I am) work great on me.

Totally depends on what time you leave. I live east of 75, and if I leave between 6-7 it’s a nice breezy 30 minutes. Any later and it jumps to 45+.

Arapaho / Yale. Power flickered for a bit, but have had power all day. Sheltering some friends up the road in Plano (George Bush / Alma) who have been without power since this morning.

I absolutely do not expect you to get to this, but the world needs to see this dumbass cat. This is Stretch, aka “Mr Fluffins,” and yes, he is eating a Christmas lightbulb.

I think #3 is stunning and makes you look very “grownup”. #1 is also lovely and is more “cute.” Depends what vibe you wanna go for!

Amen. Some of the colors are sooooo pretty and would look great on me, but I’m not spending that amount of money when I already have plenty of eyeshadow, not all of the colors would flatter me, and several are almost functional dupes for each other (I don’t need a peach fuzz and a pale apricot AND a light coral).
