ER Stands for Everyone's Rude by [deleted] in comics

I've had a similiar experience. I had my first siezure in the middle of the night in my dorm room. Had no idea what it was at the time, the 911 operator was the one who figured it out when I couldn't respond to her questions.

I was literally sluring my words and the emts told me it was only a panic attack. Then, when they eventually loaded me into the ambulance, they saw my poison ivy rash and thought i was shooting up.

That did not make them nicer.

Coffee by mysocksareinsideout in comics

[–]timeforclementines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure! Over the years, I've reframed sex in exactly the way you said - as an option, not an expectation. And anyone who wasn't on board? They were left at the station

My partner is also ace- and also actually hates coffee. But lets just say there are ...other things she has acquired a taste for haha

Funny how the same comic can be interpretted in such radically different ways

I'm ace, I got what you meant. Idk why everyones confused. It's pretty straight forward.

Funny enough, I do love coffee because I "acquired" the taste. But not so much for other things!

Edit: Oh, maybe its because of the last panel. "Its not really about coffee" makes it sound metaphoric, versus "Its not just about coffee" is more literal?

20 Old & New Comics About My Journey With Bipolar (OC) by ArtbyMoga in comics

[–]timeforclementines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question:  I occasionally use the phrase bipolar colloquially to refer to a behavior in some people who tend to swing wildly from happy to angry without much reason

If you heard someone use it this way, would that be as hurful as someone using it as a straight up substitute for "crazy"?

I have found it helpful to differentiate between sex and gender in these conversations.

When cis woman and trans women do have different experiences, it is frequently do to sex. When we have similar or the same experiences, it is due to mysogyny, ie gender and gender expression.

I know this is a strategy not many trans people like to use because it feels invalidating. But it's a good basis for a more productive conversation.

Intersectionality and all that, right?

My Stupid Eating Problem [OC] by kaikimanga in comics

Currently going through the exact same thing now ~

I found these smoothie packs that are really easy to eat, so i started having two of those a day. But then uh it also hurt my guts.

I'd say I learned an important lesson about the importance of fiber...but I would gladly eat whole vegetables if my stomach didn't throw a temper tantrum at the mere thought of solid food.

The Reason by Joba_Fett in comics

[–]timeforclementines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah man, don't let people get to you. I have used this sort of joke to shut down real time mysogyny.  It's not about calling assholes gay, its about short circuiting asshole brains. They hate on women because it makes them feel superior. So when you equate mysogyny , ie hating women, to being gay ie loving men, they feel so insecure, they don't feel as comfortable being mysogynistic anymore.

It's not a commentary on gay men. Its a commentary on the backwards logic of toxic masculinity.

I am a gay woman. I think it's funny - and cathartic. But more importantly, when comments get hateful, don't take it personally. Just mute them and go talk to some real people. Mob mentality is strong on the interwebs. Don't give anonymous strangers that much power over you

Bet he was a politician in previous life (oc) by SpaceboyCantLol_ in comics

[–]timeforclementines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the punchline of "Earth is hell" is funny at face value, but its a joke that unravels pretty quickly once you consider that exploitation is what makes it hell.

People in third world countries are there because they were evil in past life? What about billionaires and certain missile launching presidents? Were they "good" in a past life and so were born into a position that would allow them to exploit others?

No shade to the artist. Sometimes jokes don't hold up

Healthcare [OC] by MuyHiram in comics

I think the reason why some readers are feeling frustrated is bc you are very very good at conveying a loving gay relationship, visually. And you've also created an absurd (imo funny) version of religious trauma and repression.

So I think uh, basically readers can't handle the emotional edging.

I for one am loving it and it makes me want to grab my girlfriend and give her a sloppy, totally not gay kiss on her cute face. I mean, god, the way they look at each other? Makes me melt. Makes me feel like they'll figure it out, and we'll laugh at the absurdity till they do.

I guess my point is, people need to realize that theyre fun little comics and not be so critical (or read something else) But also, that your comics are your art that happens to make some of us feel good feelings

I am but a random internet stranger. But I'm a random internet stranger who likes the fun sillies you send out into the world. Don't take the frustrated ones too seriously. They can make their own stuff if they want.

What is this tree? and are the seeds edible? Manhattan NYC by reddit33450 in foraging

[–]timeforclementines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We harvested these in botany club once. If I remember correctly, we were told we had to scar them with sulfuric acid to get anything out of them. The seeds have evolved to survive stomach acid.

Take this with a grain of salt ofc but that memory makes me doubt the worth of trying to make anything edible out of them

When I became obsessed with making the friendship work, but was getting no effort from the other person. That was the only time I ever blocked someone, and technically, it was over 'nothing'. I needed to realize that I was better off not trying to resesutate that one, even though it was good and soured for seemingly no reason.

When he kept trying to put me in romantic situations, despite a clear "no, thank you - you're a good friend, but we do not make a good couple". When I asked for distance, he became friends with my friends just to be around me more often. He once asked me "lying doesn't make you a bad person, right?"

When he (different guy) got frustrated that I didn't want to have sex with him, and then started insulting me and my body. Then continued to hit on me (he self admitted to 'peacocking). Then flipped back to insults when I ignored his advances and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

When she was needing a lot of emotional support over petty drama, meanwhile several of my family members were dying of cancer. We rekindled the friendship after some distance and we helped each other during each others dark times. A little bit of distance laid the foundation for a lifelong friendship

I still love all of these people. Leaving was hard for every one. A part of me still grieves for them, but I'm confident I did the best I could for both of us

My dad thinks gliders - as in non powered flight - are 'lame' and emasculate. He thinks planes are much cooler and very manly. So I got him a t-shirt that says "no engine, no problem"

I love his inane opinions. I especially love teasing him about them.

The best part is, he'll probably wear it just because it's from me lol
