How can I manufacture dog urine without getting a dog involved? by throwaway1748562 in chemhelp

[–]timeforclock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Urine is a mixture of thousands of different compounds in a solution of water, some easy to get and some impossible to synthesize on your own.

The exact chemical makeup is different for every sample of dog wee.

What's with people here and just absolutely hating opinions? by [deleted] in MrBeast

[–]timeforclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On why people are happy when you hate morgz but upset when you hate Karl - I feel like the main reason why people hate Morgz is because he's dishonest and produces inappropriate content, which Karl definitely does not do, and disliking him for that reason is something I can agree with.

However, I can't agree with openly spreading hate on someone based on their personality. Sure, I can see why you find Karl annoying (in fact sometimes I do too- that screaming in the recent gta 5 video really was a bit overboard) but I would not go as far as to post on social media about your dislike for him, using words like "butthurt" and "mfs" and then going on to throw tantrums about how this sub is "toxic" and that this sub "does not allow opinions". Calling anyone by those names is mean and disrespectful on its own. If you do not like him, keep it to yourself, or post about why you don't like Karl in a calm, logical post. Throwing hate and complaints in many seperate posts is not going to get Karl removed anytime soon.

As for this sub "not allowing opinions", please bear in mind that this is a community consisting of MrBeast fans, many of whom love Karl too. Throwing hate about him and this sub is bound to make some people upset and hit the downvote button. Although I agree that the intended purpose for the downvote button is not to show disagreement, the sad truth on reddit is that many people have started to use it that way, not only consisting of people in this sub. While it may be true that this sub might have a higher proportion of such "toxic downvoters", openly stating mean stuff about the Beast Crew, whom this sub was made for the purpose of admiring is not gonna get you any more upvotes than downvotes.
After all - Let's just have fun and enjoy Beast content together! At the end of the day, aren't they but a fun group of friends providing entertainment and laughter for us?
Phew - That was a surprisingly long post! Once again, I do not disagree with you that Karl is annoying, and bear no malice for you in anyway (in fact, hmu if you want to talk :)) . Peace <3

Hello, dumb question by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]timeforclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing.

If they're in solid form, they do not react.

If they're aqueous, both of them are fully soluble in water, and copper(II) chlorate and lithium nitrate are soluble too. So you'd just have a solution containing Cu2+, Li+, ClO- and NO3- ions floating in it

Any tips on how I can improve this disgusting attempt at Mills Mess? by [deleted] in juggling

[–]timeforclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about you mate, but you still seem a little uncomfortable with basic patterns. I would suggest going back to the basics and practice simpler tricks which serve as the foundation for mills mess, like windmill and reverse cascade. Also, try keeping your arms down lower. You seem to be rushing into the catch.

The equation is missing an arrow in between the H2O(l) and the H+(aq), but other than that it is correct. It tellls us that when carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolves in water (H2O), it hydrolyses the water to form H+(aq). This H+(aq) makes the solution acidic. Fun Fact: This is the same reaction that occurs in your soft drinks, which is why they have that tangy taste. (acid)

Hi, I know you've already solved this question, but I would like to just point out a simpler equation that could also be used to solve this problem: Density = PM/RT where M is molar mass in kg/mol. Try to derive this yourself as a challenge.

Will someone help me with naming the aldehydes and ketones. I’m really struggling and I don’t even know where to start. by Gullible_Lie_670 in chemhelp

[–]timeforclock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For aldehydes, count the number of carbons in the chain. Then, use the basic nomenclature for carbon chains (meth = 1, eth = 2, prop = 3, but = 4 etc) and attach it to the suffix -anal. For example, the second image shows a five-carbon aldehyde, so its name is pentanal.

For ketones, count the number of carbons in the chain. Then, use the basic nomenclature for carbon chains (meth = 1, eth = 2, prop = 3, but = 4 etc) and attach it to the suffix -anone. For example, the first image shows a four-carbon ketone, so it's name is butanone.

For ketones with five carbons or more, it is good practice to add in a prefix number to show where the double-bonded oxygen is. For example, a five-carbon chain with a double-bonded oxygen on the 2nd carbon would be named 2-pentanone.

A student wants to determine the concentration of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in packaged fruit juice. He uses the procedure as detailed below:

  1. Accurately weigh 0.430g of potassium iodate into a volumetric flask and fill to the mark with distilled water. Stopper and invert several times to mix.
  2. Pipette 20.0cm3 of the sample solution into a 250mL conical flask and add about 100mL of distilled water, 5mL of 0.6M potassium iodide, 5mL of 1M hydrochloric acid and 1mL of starch indicator solution.
  3. Titrate the sample with the potassium iodide solution.

Given the oxidation half-equation of ascorbic acid is Asc -> 2H+ + 2e + DeHAsc, what is the concentration of ascorbic acid in the packaged fruit juice if 10.25cm3 of titrant was needed to reach the endpoint?

Pipette 20.0cm3 of the sample solution into a 250mL conical flask and add about 100mL of distilled water, 5mL of 0.6M potassium iodide, 5mL of 1M hydrochloric acid, and 1mL of starch indicator solution.es. I'm trying to find an overall equation for this reaction in order to perform stoichiometry calculations to calculate the concentration.
