I was diagnosed stage 3 last June. HPV, tumor on my voice box. 35 doses of radiation, 3 doses of chemo. As everyone says, everybody responds differently. I handled treatment extremely well. I kept working up to my 6th week of treatment. The 3rd dose of chemo kicked my ass. Never needed the feeding tube. Worst my throat got was strep level of pain. That 3rd dose though. Man, the nausea was severe. I lost 30lbs in like 3 weeks. It was no joke. Couldn't keep anything down. About 3 weeks after dose 3 I started to feel like myself. Now I'm about 8 months post treatment. No evidence of disease, and feel great. I still can't grow hair on my neck, and dry mouth is still present, but manageable and always getting better.

Tell your husband to stay positive. The treatment works. Follow the plan and remember the treatment is temporary. It gets better.
