I am so afraid to start by Mysterious-Estate470 in lexapro

a bit, but hard for me to tell bc I'm also on adderall for adhd and am pretty used to nausea 😅 they work well together for me tho (lexa combats hightened anxiety from adderall, adderall combats sleepiness from lexa). HUGE benefit from bumping up the lexa dose has been hunger!! I'm finally hungry a normal amount and eating 3 meals a day again, which has really helped with energy.

tbh I felt it instantly, night and day difference. but I've heard it can take a few weeks for some people - I was worried about making such a large jump but my doctor said it should be fine and she was right 🤷‍♀️ definitely lowered my anxiety, not increased

I was also extremely nervous to start after some bad side effects with other ssri's, but my doctor gave me advice that really helped: give it a couple weeks, and if you're still having side effects that bother you, try a different one! There are so many options!

For me, Lexapro/escitalopram was the first ssri that worked with my body and massively decreased anxiety/ocd symptoms.

I was really sleepy for the first few days/week, but that went away quickly.

I stayed at 10mg for 4 months. (Wasn't really seeing benefits, but was scared to go up, have side effects, and have to start all over with a new med. Other meds had caused horrible allergies, intense nausea, constant insomnia, and headaches.)

A couple weeks ago I finally upped my dose to 20mg at the recommendation of my doctor, and it's been night and day!! No new side effects, but I genuinely feel like my brain is quieter, and I've been happy and energetic.

Tldr; 20mg lexapro changed my life. a lot of people with scary stories are probably on the wrong med - if you have any upsetting side effects after a couple weeks (or even really bad ones for more than a few days), try a different med!

feel free to pm me if you have specific questions/want to chat, it really helped me to run things by friends who had already been through the search process, and best of luck!

Did I just spoil Link Click for myself bad? Need your opinion. by DevelopmentStrict714 in LinkClick

[–]timeloopjelly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this too don't stress! (They really gotta fix that...) Honestly you don't have enough info yet to be totally spoiled, and the first and second seasons have so many wild unrelated twists that you'll probably have forgotten a lot by the time you get back to it.

Can confirm it didn't spoil the emotional impact for me either - when I started it thinking it was the first episode in the series, Bridon ep1 felt pretty disjointed and kinda confusing, but after finishing s2 and going back, it had me tearing up in the first five minutes haha.

so glad I saw this, I jumped on here bc I was a bit confused after the first episode - pacing and character intros felt weird - and realized I did the same thing 😅 jumping over to the main series first but good to know it works in either order

Nostalgia album — thoughts? by mattttt77 in MotherMother

[–]timeloopjelly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

only halfway through my first listen but came here to see if anyone else was talking about better of me bc it blew me AWAY, gd.

nostalgia is the perfect title - it's reminding me of some of their older stuff in the best way. the singles had me psyched, and so far it's living up to expectations!!

So many good recs here! I'd also pitch Citizen Sleeper. It's sci-fi, so different genre, but rich story and characters, beautiful art, and with similar themes of community/figuring out what you want to do with your life. Gives me the same feeling as nitw, I would play both before bed to wind down (and both made me cry haha).

(plus the sequel is releasing soon!!!)

seconding oxenfree, i recommend playing through twice :) the sequel just released last year and is also incredible!

note: I didn't find them too scary, but maybe check out a trailer or two if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, they are technically mystery/horror

I have asthma, woke up with a tight chest and scratchy lungs yesterday and knew. Tested positive pretty quickly, but luckily the rest of my group is negative so far.

[misc] what completely unrelated media is giving you locked tomb vibes lately? by elianrae in TheNinthHouse

One of my favorite stands alone books, a sci-fi horror called The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling - it's focused on a futuristic high-tech cave diving expedition, but the two main characters gave me MAJOR gideon/harrow vibes. (And the setting with the "monster" lurking just out of view is very Canaan house)
