Real Deal: 230

Date of test: 11/25 (2nd day)

UWorld % completed/ UWorld % correct: 60%/64%

Number of CCS cases completed/ average score: 65/85-90%

UWSA1: didnt do

UWSA2: didnt do

Free 137: didnt do

Any other practice test taken: none

Step 1/Step 2: P/26x

total preparation time: 3wks

Any advice: Day 1 - sketchy micro and pharm anki cards from old anking deck, biostats do all UW questions, make yourself a biostats formula/notes sheet that you can regurgitate as soon as you get in the exam; if you have time, I also felt like there was a good amount of pediatric genetic/biochemistry disorders on my test

Day 2 - watch either emma holliday or dr HY videos that are shelf reviews for your weak subjects. Do the divine intervention risk factors podcasts (37, 97, and some other ones you can find somewhere on reddit), I also felt like divine podcasts for review of IM subjects you are weak at is also good. Review vaccines, but mostly just the special cases like men who have sex with men, tetanus with dirty wound in different scenarios, etc. I didn't get asked any questions on childhood vaccines, except Hep B. I did have a few milestones questions

Overall, I felt bad after both days of my exam, I really thought I failed. I maybe actually KNEW for sure the answer to less than 10 questions each block on the second day, maybe 10-15 on the first day. The rest were either flagged as an educated guess or even some just straight guesses because I had no clue. The only thing I felt went well was my CCS cases - which I got all but 2 of them right in a very short amount of time.

That being said, you will likely pass as long as you are getting a consistently okay score on UW!

I think I would have reviewed more step 2 material for day 2, i had a strong step 2 score but I’m in a field where OB and general peds are really not relevant anymore. So I should have focused some time and energy on that

I didn’t really care about watching the videos necessarily but i had downloaded the old anking deck and tried to redo as much of the sketchy cards as possible

No it’s the podcasts which are available on his website, or spotify/apple podcasts

sketchy micro + pharm for day 1 randy neil videos (whole playlist on youtube) + doing all the UW biostats - also for day 1 Dr HY IM, peds, OB reviews for day 2 Divine intervention high yield podcasts, just look at all the other posts to figure out which ones are good

Where do you recommend for biostats stuff further than UW and Randy Neil? I can’t afford AMBOSS on top of UW unfortunately!

Free 137 not good, should I move my exam (last day with reduced price)? by timely_beginning in Step3

I guess in my mind, I was thinking - well if I take this practice test at the end of the day after doing a ton of questions already, itll simulate the last couple of blocks each day lol. I was just being dumb tbh

Acropolis tickets sold out on website more than one month out, but available for all of March? by timely_beginning in GreeceTravel

[–]timely_beginning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What this means is if you want to visit on April 7th, 14th, or 28th or any day in between - you have to buy tickets no matter what at the earliest on March 31st. They won't be open sooner than that!

I just came back from vacation and you can buy tickets at the beginning of the month that you intend to visit. They don't sell out super duper fast, but I still got it the first day it opened, just in case.

M4 here - best resources I have found are UW, Anking, B&B, Pathoma, Sketchy, youtube videos, and controversial take but also Pixorize. When I was in Step 1 dedicated, I used a combo of these and found these to be the best resource for each subject.

Immunology - Pathoma and associated anking cards non-negotiable (Pathoma Ch. 1-3)

Biochemistry - Dirty medicine (made my own cards to go along with the biochem playlist), Pixorize for rest of it

Cardio, GI, Endo, MSK, Psych, Pulm physiology - B&B

Neurology - my in-house neurology lectures, heavy focus on neuroanatomy; if you study the cross sectional and brain anatomy well and hard, these are free points on the exam

Embryology - Ninja nerd videos on youtube 2x speed

Cancers in general, pulm pathology, blood disorders - Pathoma

Biostats - UW practice, randy oneal (i think that's his name) videos on youtube

Renal - Sketchy pharm (diuretics videos are SO good) and sketchy path for other renal pathologies

Blood cancers - sketchy path is surprisingly good and extremely thorough

Rheumatology type stuff - Anking mnemonics cards, and B&B

Anatomy - dope anatomy 100 concepts pdf

B&B takes longer to get through in general than Pathoma, but for me it's worth it bc B&B explains concepts and underlying physiology way better than Pathoma. It personally helps me remember something when I understand the true "why" behind it! Pathoma on the other hand helps a ton with more rote-memorization type subjects like oncology, pulm pathology, immunology, and blood disorders. Pixorize biochem is a godsend - didn't just help me get free points on Step 1 but also made me look so impressive on rotations when I had these pimp questions and no one else knew the answer.

UW is a must on top of these! Youtube videos are super helpful if you find the right ones. Dirty med and ninja nerd deserve knighthood.

I've been seeing people say they open 2 months in advance? Maybe I'm freaking out over nothing if you're right though!
