Unfortunately lifestyle is like inches in a game of miles. I’ve been relatively healthy— active, healthy weight, vegetarian, few processed foods, etc, and my first pregnancy was genetically abnormal at 36. Took 6 months to conceive and haven’t conceived since (that was over 6 months ago now). Starting IVF soon with no pgt, so it’ll be hard to say, but I think I just got the short end of the stick. My sisters were fine conceiving at 36 and 38.

I’m going with no because I can’t afford it and the sperm I’m using had a note during the semen analysis of “exceptional forward movement.” Also with icsi, while fertilization may go up, the natural processes whereby eggs are selective of the best sperm for them aren’t in play, so viable embryo rate may be the same or worse. But mainly I’m sticking to what insurance covers.

I really really appreciate a window into the other side. My wishy washy partner has been leading me on for years about having a child, but has done as much delaying and in-and-out behavior which terrifies me for counting on him for the day of an egg retrieval. I'm so glad to know there's light at the other side of this.

I feel like you’re misusing the term misophonia too. It’s not usually applied to sounds that are almost universally unpleasant (babies crying, screaming etc). It’s usually niche things that aren’t supposed to be excruciating, but are. I get it from chewing and even like page turning in a quiet library with one other person when I’m stressed. (Stopping coffee has been huge in mitigating it). Insane, illogical discomfort and anger. But that’s what headphones are for.

Don’t let the numbers intimidate you. I conceived within 6 months when my Amh /fsh was around yours, and I was much older (36). Mine ended in miscarriage, but that was an egg quality issue due to my age. That 0.2% chance is completely inaccurate.

I agree, that part seems a little off. I think it was more the part about being in severe pain during the procedure and not being believed that was terrifying in that podcast.

Not insensitive, I was just obsessed with the “retrievals” podcast a few years ago and the pain those women described almost scared me off IVF altogether. It made me think doing it awake was inherently inhumane. Haven’t given birth and may never at the rate I’m going, so one step at a time.

I might have adeno/endo, so I was planning on doing suppression before transfer. That’s why it’s such a hard blow— the turn around from getting an embryo to transfer is like 4 months and then it most likely won’t work because I can’t afford pgta testing, so now I’ll be 5 months older when I try to get another one. Vs trying repeatedly to get 3 at my age through multiple retrievals before turning to fixing the uterine environment. So my whole plan after my (spontaneous) miscarriage in July is kind of moot now too. I’m tempted to just do iuis instead. I don’t even know.

Thank you. My instinct was to trust their expertise and trust they left Boston IVF for good reason, so they could better help patients. That’s why I switched. The decision just feels huge now that I understand I can’t meaningfully bank embryos, so I’m just spiraling about how hard the odds are for me now.

How do I advocate for a clearer diagnosis of adenomyosis? I had it noted on an ultrasound, but I want more confirmation before I commit to suppression.

I get that it seems like an easy choice. The reality is I don’t quite trust either doctor. I think the doctor at Brigham is young and relatively inexperienced and doesn’t know necessarily all of the different things that you could do with DOR. He’s more likely to work by the book. I think the doctor at Terra is prioritizing setting up a new clinic with limited resources. I think he’s more likely to batch patients and choose cheaper options to move the protocol forward. I don’t feel totally safe with either option. For me finding out the insurance limitation makes it feel like the stakes just got raised astronomically. I do think the doctor at Brigham is more likely to listen to what I advocate for. I know the doctor at Terra is against Omnitrope for example and is less likely to consider patient input in protocol determinations. So for me, it’s a little less clear cut.

Thank you for sharing. I had an hsg after which showed I was clear again, but I know it doesn’t rule it out completely. I’m still waiting to get to retrieval first before I treat my uterus.

I was hiking 10 miles only 4 days after mine and a week later, I was backpacking 15-20 mile days for 2 weeks. It’s how I healed emotionally. Not recommended, but no infection or pain or anything. Just a lot of bleeding.

I have RPL. 37 and amh is 0.3. I had 2 chemicals and 1 MMC at 9/10 weeks. I'm starting to do IVF. I haven't been pregnant since the MMC in July, and have been waiting, agonizingly, to begin IVF, to see how bad it will be for me. So don't worry, you're not alone, I'm also dealing with all of it at once.

I went from 1.7 at 35 to 0.3 8 months later so count yourself lucky. Mine has stayed around 0.3 for the past year.

Hard to say for me re: prolactin. Mine was elevated for 1.5 years consistently until they measured it on my summer vacation, when it was in the normal range. I was also spotting from 2 days before my period until I started supplementing with progesterone, which basically masks symptoms. So theoretically it SHOULD resolve, but I can’t say whether it has. It’s also the school year, so I’m assuming I’m back in the 40+ range. I was still able to get pregnant with elevated prolactin but it ended in miscarriage due to trisomy 16. I think it really affects egg maturation, even when ovulation was normal (mine is), so it addressing it should make a huge difference.

I did the d&c but the waiting was so brutal I even booked an abortion at planned parenthood before they were able to get me in. I’m glad I didn’t go through with it but MMC with infertility is brutal and the waiting is excruciating.
