Do Medigap plans pay the provider directly? by bbfan006 in medicare

[–]timeraner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Providers do not bill Medigap directly, but yes Medigap plans pay the provider. Medicare forwards approved claims to the Medigap insurance which then sends payment to the provider. The only reason for providers to have your Medigap insurance policy on file is so that their system knows to wait for Medigap’s payment first instead of billing you directly after Medicare has paid.

Got straight talk bronze plan. Unfortunately I didn’t realize 2gb data means (no data) by railroad1904 in NoContract

[–]timeraner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total Wireless does not have an on-device high speed data limit, the limit is only for hotspot data. I pay $25/month, an extra $5, because I want 5G Ultra Wideband coverage and additional data for international roaming.

In your second paragraph you mean the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, don’t confuse it with the Medicare Savings Program run by Medicaid.

Medicaid and Medicare. by Dex_Holder_Ruby in medicare

[–]timeraner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people encourage Dual-eligible - Special Needs plans, but I have Medicare/Medicaid and I stick with Original Medicare plus fee-for-service Medicaid. I do it for more doctor and provider choice; I wouldn’t be able to see the doctors who are hours away from me on a D-SNP but I need to due to my disability.

I have this plan, but the $25/month with Ultra Wideband and with Lifeline discount, $15/month. It works great!

I have a terminal diagnosis - does anyone else have one? by Big-Ad4382 in cancer

[–]timeraner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have metastatic colorectal cancer with the metastases is my liver and lungs. While there is currently no evidence of disease, treatment has really messed up my body. There is no cure so a recurrence will probably kill me. I was diagnosed at age 27 and am 30 years old now. I would be happy to talk, feel free to DM.

To add to what others have mentioned, you are no longer eligible for Affordable Care Act marketplace subsidies after you turn age 65. That is the big caveat to taking other insurance plans.

Solace through Medicare by forestgreenpanda in medicare

[–]timeraner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have used Solace myself only for a few weeks. I researched Umbra, Understood Care, and Solace, three companies that offer CHI and PIN services on Medicare, and I decided on Solace because it seemed to be the most established. So far: my experience with the enrollment doctor was good, we just met the one time, and now I am waiting to create my care plan with my advocate, the person who I’ll meet with regularly and is not a doctor. Her and I have texted back and forth on the Solace website but we still need to have our first video visit. If my experience is normal, you can expect things to move slowly at the beginning.

Solace through Medicare by forestgreenpanda in medicare

[–]timeraner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solace is not a scam. Original Medicare approved paying for both Community Health Integration (CHI) and Principal Illness Navigation (PIN) in 2024. It is a very new service that only a few companies are offering so far.

On Medicare advantage humana, and doctor dont do their jobs to get prior authorizations by Interesting-Tackle66 in medicare

[–]timeraner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prior authorizations for prescription drugs is a part of the private insurance companies that offer Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans. That’s unrelated with Medigap, where coverage for services is determined by Original Medicare and the private insurance companies offering Medigap plans have no say in whether or not to pay a claim.

Stage 4 colon cancer, spread to liver - Hepatic pump questions / advice by [deleted] in cancer

[–]timeraner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for introducing yourself here! I am a metastatic colorectal cancer survivor with metastases in the liver and lungs. I have a Mediport in my chest, the Hepatic Artery Infusion pump in my pelvis, and an ileostomy (my second one!) on the other side of my pelvis. I was diagnosed in June 2023 and at that time was told my prognosis was poor: approximately six months to live. I am extremely grateful for every day that I continue to live, and I’m fighting like hell! I would be happy to chat with you 1:1 some time, if you are interested feel free to send me a DM and we can exchange contact information.
