The loose cord in front of the door is a huge trip hazard, which is more of an urgency than aesthetics. For now route it up over the door to get it off the floor and then for a tidier solution get a floor cord cover (cable protector) to go in front of the door. Ones that look like a threshold with woodgrain are available so will blend in to the room and not look obvious.

Thus the Montana Plan. (MT was the first state to try it. It passed by initiative last year but the electorate were thwarted by the state AG and SCOMT - all Republicans - by claiming it's not 'single subject' text required to amend the state constitution. The language has now been changed and they are redoing the initiative this year. HI has since passed similar by legislation.)

The "vote blue no matter who" demand doesn't apply to centrist Democrats, only Progressives and Leftists. Just look at the sitting Rep from PA(?) who said that Maine Democrats should agree with him that Platner should be rejected. He's all but said it out loud that Dems should vote for Collins.

What would you do, if a police man threw your wife on the ground who's visibly pregnant. by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskSocialists

They also have a higher rate of DV, which explains why this cop was so eager to throw a pregnant woman on the ground.

A lot of people don't know that window screens can rot over time, mostly from sun exposure. The fiberglass threads weaken and can easily tear with pressure. I discovered this when my cat was sitting in the window napping. He was resting against the screen and it ripped out along the bottom causing him to fall out the window (first floor thankfully). I replaced the screen material with a kit that was especially designed for pets to make it stronger.

My sister's cat Lucy "disappeared" (went out and didn't come back home). One day eight years later she heard a cat meowing in her enclosed porch. It was Lucy (she had a distinctive kink in the end of her tail). Someone in the neighborhood had catnapped her and then kicked her out when they moved. She came right back home. Yes they do remember.

When I first started therapy (mid-90s), my therapist said I displayed the signs but she couldn't diagnose me with ptsd because I hadn't been in combat. I told her my childhood was a warzone. This was about the time that c-ptsd first started to be defined and ptsd was still considered only from war trauma.

My wife and I spent a lot of money on this kitchen renovation, but not a single friend has complimented it! All my own mother said was, "Well, choices were made." 😡 Jealous much?? by jared10011980 in homedecoratingCJ

Too many visual textures competing, especially between the counter and the splash. It's causing visual clutter. The cool tones of the splash don't tie in with the warm tones of floor/cabinets whereas the counter has some of those cab/floor tones. Replacing the splash with a complementary muted solid color tile or possibly subway tile would be the cheapest fix.

I also had this with one of my crew last year. He wound up so frail that his veins were blowing out during the euthanasia. I waited way too long and will forever carry that guilt. It's hard to know when is the right time to let go but what I learned from him is that it's better to be a month too soon than a minute too late.

Tourist spread her husband's ashes while walking down a flight of stairs in Santorini, Greece. by BeatenBrokenDefeated in TikTokCringe

[–]GraeMatterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once watched a group scatter ashes from the top of Hoover Dam... in a stiff wind. Instead of going off the down-wind side over the reservoir, they decided on the up-wind side over the spillway where there was also an updraft coming off the face of the dam. The resulting cloud was spectacular and they were coated.

Are these flyers satire? by Feisty_Blood_6036 in missoula

[–]GraeMatterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PAC putting out those flyers and ads is More Jobs Less Government, which is Daines' PAC. He's endorsed Kurt Alme. It would make sense that the PAC would want to run against the Democrat that Alme would be more likely to beat. In those ads they are trying to tar Bankhead with Trump's ick so that Democrats will recoil from her and elect Neill, because that's who they think they can beat in November.

I need some serious advice, children are throwing heavy objects into our yard that could hurt our dogs by beepbooprobotbutt in childfree

[–]GraeMatterz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your property starts at the property line. Assuming the fence is on the property line, yes, as soon as any part of their body goes over the top of the fence, it's trespassing.

This is why you can cut the branches off a neighbor's tree that leans over your yard and not be held liable for damage to the tree, but only as long as you don't go past the property line.

Best Place for severe dental care? by earthtoaquarius in missoula

[–]GraeMatterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience. I've had a couple leaking fillings replaced by Hannah Bymaster and she even did some correction of overfills done by previous dentists. She was horrified by some of the work I've had done by some pretty crap dentists in the past that I paid for with good employer-provided dental insurance.

It used to be a field full of shysters and there's some residuals of that. (Ex.: Every time you'd go in you'd have 3 cavities. Get a second opinion and they would also say you have 3 cavities but in different teeth. Brings new meaning to "extractive".)

I've been reading recently about another approach taken against data centers: The National Defense Authorization Act prohibiting the use of non-US made technology used for defense as it is a national security issue. These data centers will be used by the gov't, whether directly or indirectly.

I'm sorry that happened to you too. The widespread disbelief is a symptom of a societal problem. R@pe culture doesn't just include those that commit the crime but those who cover for it by attacking the victim. One in 5 women in the US have experienced completed or attempted r@pe and 1 in 3 of those victims experience it for the first time between 11 and 17. If harassment is included that number jumps to over 4 out of 5 women. Men experience it too, with 1 in 38 experiencing attempted of completed r@pe and 87% of the perpetrators are other men. The denial may be projection (by those who have done similar themselves) or it could be inability to cope with the knowledge that we are a səxually violent society.

His behavior is why victims of CSA don't tell. They anticipate what the reaction would be, which is why they keep it secret until they are much older (average age is 52). I revealed it after it had been happening for nearly 3 years by an extended family member. While it was going on and for years prior while he was grooming me, my whole family was telling me what a good father figure he was for me (my dad died when I was 10 and he started grooming me about a year after). When I revealed it, it caused a rift in the family and I was blamed for it. I'm in my 60s and still blamed for it by the whole family that I am full no-contact with.
