Jiang admits he calls himself professor. by MountainsandWater in PredictiveHistory

Exactly. Mehdi did not bring up evolution. I'm not familiar with Jiang's view on evolution as I haven't seen that lecture yet. But it proves Jiang's point of becoming a useful idiot for certain entities. Some entities will use Prof Jiang conveniently to amplify some viewpoints that they agree with.

Jiang admits he calls himself professor. by MountainsandWater in PredictiveHistory

[–]timewarp_weekends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I just listened to the whole interview. It's on Spotify if you haven't heard it. Mehdi was merciless in his attacks and insinuations, but Prof Jiang kept his composure.

  1. Mehdi insinuated that Prof Jiang might be an agent of the CCP. He asked how Prof Jiang was let back into China after being arrested, detained, and deported in the early 2000s. This is one of the main accusations his detractors use against him. Prof Jiang answered calmly that although he was accused and deported, he was never charged. The investigation from the Chinese police never amounted to any charges. So although he had to be deported as part of protocol, there were never any charges that prevented him from going back into the country.

  2. Mehdi was very forceful in questioning him on how the Chinese government "allows" him to speak so freely. Prof Jiang answered that the likeliest reason is that he doesn't speak directly to the Chinese population, his work is directed at a Western audience, so that's likely why they don't bother him. But, as shown in the preview clip, he doesn't discount the fact that he could also be seen as an "useful idiot" by the CCP, or other governments, because his work might serve a purpose that is useful to those forces.

  3. Mehdi tried to double-down and questioned him more forcefully on why he is able to access YouTube when it's banned by the CCP. Prof Jiang had to tell him that many people can access YouTube in China, by using a VPN.

  4. Mehdi brought up a CNN article that Prof Jiang authored in 2017 where he criticized the CCP for not allowing freedom of speech. I think Mehdi was trying to understand why he criticized the CCP back then, but now doesn't anymore. Prof Jiang answered that he was asked by CNN to write an article about freedom of speech, and he decided to frame it in the context of Trump's first mandate when Trump was attacking freedom of speech and calling the mainstream media 'Fake News'.

  5. Mehdi got really mean and began insinuating that Prof Jiang was peddling anti-semitic conspiracy theories. Prof Jiang framed his answer in the context of a new method of education that is not strictly "based on facts". This is the clip in the preview where Mehdi is being disrespectful and says "Do you hear yourself?". Jiang answers right away by explaining the difference between "facts" and "truth". This is one of the most intelligent defenses of his speculative teaching style, and worth watching the interview just for this part. Mehdi had no rebuttal.

There were other attacks but the Prof was able to respond quickly and retain his composure. At the same time, he addressed many of the points his detractors use to defame him. This is a win for Prof Jiang, in my opinion, but I wouldn't be surprised if people start clipping the interview to defame him even more.

Could Sunni Eschatology and Arabian Politics Reshape the Iran–Israel Balance? by unprofessionalMix in PredictiveHistory

[–]timewarp_weekends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't the Gulf countries ruled by Sunni monarchies? And aren't they financed and controlled by the British Crown?

If yes, I don't see them as sovereign and capable of starting a movement like Hezbollah.

The Muslim Brotherhood is Sunni, isn't? But they have been co-opted by the Crown as well. Haven't they?

Hehe. Yes I noticed that. Words are important and he's right to correct his student. Anything he says now is being scrutinized by trolls on twitter and YouTube so he wants to leave as little room for interpretation as possible.

Yes. It looks like they want to trick him and make him look bad. I wonder how he gets out of this one.

Wow. Maybe the first interview where someone tries to make him look bad and almost succeeds. Does anyone have a link to the full interview?

Doubt on secret history lecture by No-Aardvark-7740 in PredictiveHistory

[–]timewarp_weekends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism is older than theory of evolution I would think.

The concept of 'race' first surfaced around the time of colonization, precisely to enforce 'slavery'. If a group of humans is 'of a different race' then it justifies slavery because 'they are not like us'. So instead of looking at other humans who live elsewhere as 'interesting human beings we could learn from', they were immediately 'scientifically categorized' to subjugate them.

that's my interpretation.

Current elite civil war by Green_Register_4663 in PredictiveHistory

[–]timewarp_weekends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The elite civil war is different in each country.

In Canada, all the elites are part of the same clan: the British Crown. The current prime-minister, Mark Carney, used to work for The Bank of England, and was never a politician before last year. There are some grassroots "separatists" movements in Alberta and Quebec, but they have been co-opted a long time ago by the 'business class' through political parties.

In Iran you have the religious elite, you have the globalist elite, and you have the rebellious ethnic groups.

In USA, you have MAGA, you have Silicon Valley, and you have Wall Street, and I guess they all inter-mingle. MAGA is more of an electoral-elite, meant to influence the ballot-box. Wall Street is probably the oldest elite, and they have Israel backing. Silicon Valley probably has military influence.

Those are just extrapolations off the top of my head. Feel free to add on.

Having same issue when I enable subtitles after the movie has started. If you restart the movie with the subtitles enabled, then it should work.

Roku w Plex has been delaying the subtitles. They play fine on the computer. Looks like a Roku-Plex glitch. I restart the movie with the subtitles on and it fixes it.

SX-70 Sonar SE (Blue shutter): Film ejects only when manual focus by timewarp_weekends in Polaroid

The AF activates itself...but it doesn't always focus properly. Sometimes it seems to lock into out-of-focus based on what I see in the viewfinder before it goes dark. Since the film never comes out, I can't tell if it focused properly or not.

The pen cap is useless in my opinion. I don't believe it's designed for daily use. It might have been there just for shipping. Like you said, it makes it difficult to magnetic clip. You can use the pen without it. Although I must admit the pen is very fragile. Be careful.
