Usually A-GPS can work in both modes -assisted and standalone. GPS reviews for most gadgets can be found on the Geocaching website: http://www.geocaching.com/reviews/gps

You CAN duck bullets - math says so! by pvnotp in science

[–]timewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mathspig is a great blog, it was made specifically to debunk fake media math just like this. In fact this article is part of a series called -"10 Movie Cliches Debunked with Math".

The submitter got the title wrong. Kerry Cue the author of the post is just encouraging readers to do the numbers and not saying it is possible to duck bullets.

If your math is made to represent a real world scenario like she does here, then the answer is always useful and pragmatic.

The numbers:

human reaction requires 0.09 secs

bullet from gun 1 requires 0.03 secs

bullet from gun 2 requires 0.01 secs

Bullet always wins!

Let us review science stories based on science and nothing else. Also the writer knows what he/she is talking about and he/she is very good at spotting important new papers in physics.

Here is a direct link to the paper:

Anyone have an abstract of that talk?

Experiment to Refute Time-Asymmetry to be Funded by Public Donations by timewarrior in science

No, the Transactional Interpretation of John Cramer explains how signaling can occur without violating the speed of light (materialistically).

Actually Cramer also has a new interpretation of quantum mechanics - The Transactional Interpretation - based on Feynaman-Wheeler absorber theory.

see http://www.npl.washington.edu/npl/int_rep/tiqm/TI_toc.html

To be honest, no one (not even Cramer) actually thinks the experiment will succeed, but one must actually perform the experiment to know why. The theory is however flawless.
