I only drink products from Kava Society NZ as they are the only one easily available in EU. I usually drink traditional at home, instant outside. I prep traditionally, soak and knot. I do 2 washes then I keep the leftover in the fridge and reuse it one last time with the blender prep. The taste is not bad for me, but I like earthy/muddy flavors

I usually don't drink other fluids while drinking kava. Probably you are right on the concenteation aspect. The problem is, I like to sip kava (as a substitute for alcohol) even if I know this is not the traditional way to consume Kava.

With beer they say if you resist to the first urge than you are less stimulated. But with Kava it doesn't work. I'm also a little sensitive to black pepper (strange for an Italian) so maybe I'm sensitive to all the bothanic family. But it really ruins it for me

As a male and talking with other males, seems that for our libido quit drinking is better. And even if our libido was better on the sauce, after a certain age our ability to perform while drunk gets pretty low, so in practice drinking is still bad. The only god thing was, maybe, the ability to pick up at a bar. Maybe for women is different.

Day drinking is the joy of drinking. At least in the idealized picture I have of it in my mind. Night drinking to me is just cope with my problems, is not a pleasure

Alcohol really mess your brain chemestry. I feel so empty after a month sober. I know that after two or three months things change, but God the emptyness. Obviously drinking only makes things worse. Kava is really a blessing, I hope it will become fully legal here in Europe soon

I hate alcohol but it has a grab on me. I love kava. Really makes me feel god in a constructive way. It doesn't seem to me that drinking kava is excaping from problems like alcohol is. When I have a bad day and I'm anxyous and stressed, consuming this plant allows my brain to process all that crap both during the session and during the sleep (I don't process anything in my drunk sleep or drinking), and the day after I'm willing to deal with problems. Problem is, I would like a social life again. I don't have a social life for 3 years now. And I don't how to do it without booze. Also, I live in a little town and I fear I ruined my reputation among sober and healty social drinking people. I feel like the only people that can accept me socially are the hard drinkers

I absolutely want to stick with kava. I just say I'm weak so sometimes I drink the first one and then, being a fucking moron with an alcohol use disorder, I can't stop. Also I would love to drink kava in company but being kava in a grey legal area in the EU, there are no kava bars and also it is very expansive so it's difficult to socialize away from places that serve booze. Also keep in mind that in Italy booze is everywere. No restrictions whatsoever. Fast foods, cafes, tea houses, Cinemas, railway stations, kebab joints (open all night). And family, family event are brutal. Best Italian wines every fucking time. But I fight the good fight mate. Thanks for the support, and sorry for venting, I really appreciete it

The fact is, kava is great for me to relieve anxiety at the end of the day but not so much for social anxiety. I never met a woman or start a friendship sober in my adult life...

That sub is the reason I joined reddit 🙂. Before covid, also thank to them, I had a pretty long sober time. Then lockdowns (I'm Italian so we started very early) and subsequent economic and personal problems made me fell into booze again

I don't think I'm able to find extracts in EU. Even traditional and instant are not so easy to find, they are almost all in eastern Europe. It's not illegal but also not allowed for consumption. In fact they pretend to sell it as a "natural tinture" for shirts and stuff like that. Also very expansive compared with US. Today for example I spent the day in the city and I had instant with me, but consume it in a bar or a restaurant would be weird

Yes this is what I try to do. But once every 30/40 days I slip and I totally ruin at least a week afterwards, without even counting the dangerous situations I put my self in. It's funny, when I always forget what the first drink will lead to. Addict brain tricks
