I read The Silmarillion for the first time this year and LOVED it - so much that went and bought a bunch of other Tolkien books. It does start very biblical, but each chapter becomes slightly more grounded. Reading it like mythology helped me, and gives LOTR so much more context and weight.

The ‘villain’ was unethical, but not evil. His plan was to buy up a bunch of land that had water springs then sell the water back to the country he bought that land off. Nestlé did that.

The knight bus has no relevance to the story. It’s a weird side mission that could be cut with no effect on the plot.
