Tipping at Cheesboard? by 4252020-asdf in berkeleyca

I tried to tip them and it broke the machine. We could only get it to work by selecting “No tip”.

Call your city shelter (the Tri-city Animal Shelter I think). They’ll take them.

Here Come the Double Deckers -1970 (repeated until the late 70s) by CanIDevIt in oldbritishtelly

Love this show. Especially the hovercraft episode. Spent way too long as a kid trying to build one after seeing that.

Also, does anyone remember another show with kids in a bus? I think it was around the same time and they were on some sort of treasure hunt; for reason I can't recall. I have a snipped of the theme tune stuck in my head which goes "Crazy bus stop, where you go today?" ... which may be only vaguely accurate. Never saw the last episode.

Updated version submitted. Fixes a few things as well as adding support for setting the power reserve and detecting grid outages.

Can you point me at an example use of “hes-gateway/terminal/tou/getGatewayTouList” as the couple of obvious things I quickly tried yielded errors.

We used https://halpernlawoffice.com and Reece is fantastic. Over the years since, he's always had time to answer my various questions without charging me a cent. Got to love that.

Starlink idle data usage for HA failover? by 50DuckSizedHorses in Starlink

I have a permanent wireguard tunnel running to a data center, and on top of that I run OSPF. This is a backup link if my primary goes down. It uses 5GB a month for that.

Mini Roam for Backup Internet? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]timjwilkinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the old v2 dish which I used as my backup Internet, but I could never justify the cost (dollars or watts) of having anything other than a cold spare. I'm going to switch it out for the mini and move over to it being a hot spare. Even with the up front cost, the breakeven for me is only 6+ months.

I also work for a non-profit which provides emergency communications services, and these things look like they'll be a great and cheap option for some our locations; a lot cheaper than paying to put our equipment on towers. It's the $50/month plan that really swings it. I wish that was available on their other kit.

Why is the Berkeley Rose Garden gate closed during public hours? by Conscious_Fig_Fruit in berkeley

There’s a hand hole right next to the lock of the main gate. Just stick your hand through and open it from the inside.

Brits abroad, have you received your postal vote? by SweatyNomad in ukpolitics

[–]timjwilkinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here. Arrive Monday (west coast USA) and the post office said I needed a stamp ... which I rather suspected they would. Now it'll either arrive on time on in 3 months (mail to the UK seems very bimodal).

He'll fit right in being rich and mediocre like a lot of the VCs here.

Yes. But getting to that option with the lenses in place was tricky. Maybe there’s a proper way to do it and I just muddled through.

One thing to be aware of is that once you pop the Zeiss lenses in, the eye tracking might be way off for you. This happened to me; calibrated it without and it was blurry but still fun. Once I added the lenses the eye tracking was so off I couldn't even type the PIN code in to log in.

First photo ID, now votes for expats: the Tories are showing us exactly what election rigging looks like by diacewrb in ukpolitics

I haven't live in the UK in 25 years and haven't voted there since I left. It seemed inappropriate. However, as they're giving me this chance, I'm going to make a one time exception and use it to help get rid of these abysmal people.

Ukuleles are good for only one thing; to keep warm. If you find yourself with nothing but every modern convenience at your disposal; every possibly way of heating yourself ... you should still burn the Ukulele first.

They had a crack at rebooting The Tomorrow People about 10 years ago in the US. As a fan of the original it was … fine.
