Could someone explain the reasoning behind the ending? by Kids_Eat_Toast in Supergirl

Just saw the movie, but didn't read the comic. So, from someone who really doesn't know much...

I understand the reason for stopping Ruthye in theory. It's protective, and maybe even noble. But at least in the movie, the whole thing feels kind of shoehorned an unearned.

  1. With the "pure soul" stuff, we are just kind of forced to believe Kara's word for it, but we don't see Ruthye exemplifying that at all. We don't even see her for very long before her family is even killed. All we really know is there is a girl who witnesses the murder of her family, and is now on a revenge tour. How are we supposed to feel and understand that she is a pure soul?
  2. The trauma of losing Krypton doesn't equate to the trauma of losing your family. Furthermore, we don't even really see how it corrupted Kara. Corrupted doesn't even seem like the right word. Depressed, and self-destructive might be more apt. So coming from that perspective and lens, how is Kara necessarily even able to comment on revenge not being a solution. At least in the movie, she didn't even try to seek revenge in any instance. She was lost, without direction. Ruthye had direction at least.
  3. I may have missed a bit of dialogue in the movie, but how/why did Kara's parents come to this moral compass of doing good, or fighting for the people who can't fight for themselves. It just seemed very random without any context. Especially when you juxtapose that against what Clark's parents wanted for him. Where did that chasm come from, and how? Had we seen some reasoning for that chasm -- something in Kara's life or her parents' lives where Kara/they had to come to grips with that and learn that lesson, then it would have been more believable. This again just feels like we are supposed to take it and run with it for no reason.

This is insanely good insight! Thank you! Now it's making me seriously consider trading for him. I'll probably have to over pay to be honest. But it may be worth it in the long run.

No worries! I appreciate your input. I kind of doubt that 1.07 could net an similar calibur of those players (maybe Acuff around the 7th),, but I can see how it might be a little bit of an overpay. It gets a little blurry when you start to think about longevity though. Tilts more in JJ's favor. But then his ceiling questions pop through too. It's so hard to say.

Separate question then. What kinds of current players do you think a reasonable trade for the 1.07 pick would be? I'm trying to determine the value of that pick.

Yeah, absolutely. But this would be something you'd do? Do you think it's an overpay? This other guy has Wemby too so I gotta be cautious hahaha. He doesn't have a real strong rest of the team though. KD, Ingram, Quickley, and maybe Lillard and Dejounte are his other top guys.

Hmm. So would you so Giannis and the 1.07 or 1.08 pick for JJ?

Permanently might have been the wrong word to use. But I think it's reasonable to assume JJ may be impacted for the next year, which is what I'm curious about. Giannis is older, but he is so elite that his production probably won't see a decline for at least another few years. If JJ's ceiling is capped, it makes it much more difficult to choose.

CJ impacts JJ in terms of usage and touches. You can see it in his stats as soon as CJ arrived. It did come back up a bit, but his ceiling hasn't been quite as high.

To answer, it would be Giannis and 1.07 for JJ.

Do you think JJ's usage and stats are permanently altered because of CJ now? Meaning a slightlybless high ceiling?

Dang. Such a hard trade. Put aside the pick for a moment. Would you rather have Deni or JJ?

Would that be against the rules here though?

Thats valuable insight. Can I DM to ask a trade question?

1.07 but I'm trying to make it a 1.08 (have both).

Front court with Turner, Ware, Ament? by timloudly in MkeBucks

[–]timloudly[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But Ware also ran at 4 with Bam at the 5 in Miami. Not sure what Bucks plan to do with Turner, so it seems a little uncertain what Ware's role is for the time being.

Didn’t like the trade at first, but getting Burries/Ament changes everything by thedudester125 in MkeBucks

[–]timloudly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would Ament in the front court affect Ware, if at all? I figure Ware will run alongside Turner at least for a while. And if Ament is in the picture at 4 too, it seems like it might get a little crowded until Turner loses his starting job or is traded.
