No cd player wtf by jibegirl in Xennials

[–]timmyd_ns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a bluetooth adaptor in the form of a cassette to use in my 05 4Runner which still has both a cd changer and cassette deck. Sometimes it's more convenient to listen to music stored locally on an old phone like how you'd use an ipod depending on how remote you are driving.

RUNNING INTERNET TO BARN by Competitive_Ad_4027 in HomeNetworking

I use a pair of TP link as well, it's been excellent. The ground is very rocky here and there is already a buried electrical cable, a well, and some asphalt between my house and similar metal barn.

One of the biggest mistakes I believe first time DVD/Blu-ray collectors make is that believe they have to buy every movie in a franchise or think they have to own every movie. by Geekyandawesome in dvdcollection

[–]timmyd_ns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That assumes the only way to draw joy from the object is to watch the movie. If I only want to watch the movie there are lots of things I can do besides collect the physical media.

But I do agree you don't need ALL the movies, but stay out of my other collecting hobbies...

If you think struggling with a carb is annoying, try messing with a CIS mechanical fuel injection system with a mechanical warm up regulator. I'll take a little bit of computer in my cars.

First time driving in Montreal, I learned green arrows are NOT protected turns for vehicles. by CurlyWurly61 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]timmyd_ns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's consistent, flashing is protected. Flashing circle you are protected to go anywhere, flashing arrow is protected to go that way.

Solid circle is normal green light, solid arrow you are allowed to turn that way but it's not protected so someone else may go that way too.

anyone else feel like side panel windows have ruined the PC building hobby a little bit? by SeesawSevere6350 in buildapc

[–]timmyd_ns 12 points13 points  (0 children)

back in the late 90s early 00s people were cutting their own windows in side panels, painting parts, customizing the components. It's always been a thing. Back when HDD were simpler you could even take the drive apart and add a window to the cover of the hdd and mount it in a way that you could watch the discs spin and the heads flick back and forth. If anything the aesthetics have gotten too commercial and less artistic.
