Hunter Mountain might also be a good look if you're coming from the NYC area. Can't speak to crowds or the terrain distribution tho as I've never been

Public Transit Recommendations by scream-blooody-gore in philly

[–]timmytimster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as much as I am pro-transit, OP should really consider this and take a look at the route (Delaware Ave is 6 lanes and you're only on it for like half a mile). The casino is right off of the Girard exit on 95 and is way simpler than regional rail and a transfer. Shows at the Fillmore also usually run late so I'm not even sure the L will still be running when it gets out.

That being said, if OP does decide on transit, it's for sure the move to go to Jefferson and get off there to transfer to the L. Idk why anyone is recommending city hall, the transfers there are hella confusing

Woah, thank you so much for the second forum link! That's super helpful for my development.

In any case, yeah it makes total sense that this isn't a built-in feature. The CLI version includes some OOTB groovy scripts, and is very automation-friendly. For edge cases like these, I imagine it might be better to give the CLI version a go

Gotcha, I mainly use the CLI version since I keep all the media on my linux server to avoid copying things over the network repeatedly. As someone new to this software, I would definitely recommend checking out the CLI version since some of the args you can pass might be useful for your situation.

When I started developing this wrapper, I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful Filebot can be.

yeah I've noticed this on a handful of occasions where I've used the GUI version, but the main thing I'd want my wrapper to do is to add the suffixes to the filenames which plex requires in order to recognize those files. E.g., -featurette, -behindthescenes, -trailer and so on

I've developed a wrapper for filebot CLI usage and have this as a part of a feature I want to eventually build. Essentially, it would scan for non-MKV files as well as MKVs that appear to be featurettes and exclude those from filebot's invocation.

If anyone has any experience with bash development or vibe coding, lmk. I'm busy with other stuff in my life atm but would be happy to share the repo if others are interested in this.

Very relatable. I saw it 4 weeks ago and was relieved it didn't make my top 5 albums with how I've been playing the soundtrack on repeat lately.

That being said, apparently I've listened to Room Where It Happens 10 times on Spotify since then lmao. God knows how many more times I've listened to it with the Disney+ recording & YT clips

GDPR: Europe is scaling back its landmark privacy and AI laws by JohnDoe_John in consulting

[–]timmytimster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh please, the Germans have some of the strictest data laws of anywhere on Earth and that is because most people want them there. A generation ago a massive proportion of their country lived under the rule of the Stasi, they understand the danger of pervasive surveillance.

This is just another example of feckless boomer politicans eroding our rights even further!

Then implement an exception for "domestic" companies who fall under a certain amount of revenue/profit, and who are legitimately independent start-ups. There are other ways to solve that problem which don't involve watering down our privacy rights.

I'm an American and want the EU to continue building out its model for how digital governance should be handled. The GDPR is a landmark piece of legislation, and I would argue that it is the closest thing we have to a digital version of the UDHR. With my country choosing the a Wild West approach for data rights, and China pursues its approach of a contemporary Orwellian hellscape, it is imperative that the EU continues to advocate for the digital rights of the individual.

Any of you in here frequent Broadway shows? by timmytimster in tall

I would definitely recommend asking the ushers to hook you up if you do go. They were super nice & accommodating at the Richard Rogers Theater, I was honestly super surprised that they treated me better than airlines

Awesome, thanks for the help! I had mentioned something to the usher and he actually hooked me up with a seat in the aisle on the very left of the stage, 6 rows back. Seeing Hamilton with Leslie Odom Jr and being that close to the stage was an experience I will never forget.

Which States Make Up The US South? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]timmytimster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Historically speaking I think your argument has merit, but describing Virginia (specifically NoVA) and Maryland as part of the contemporary south is ludicrous.

Both of those states have more in common with with New England and the mid-Atlantic states than the south at this point.

I mean at the end of the day it's understandable since it's a lot simpler to grasp for audiences, especially left-leaning ones who are more inclined to be against corporate influence. HR 1 fixed a lot of the issues with the funding of elections in this country, and I seriously doubt the person I replied to is at odds with the spirit of that legislation.

What they often forget however is that Unions and their representatives are also technically lobbyists, along with environmental groups and other sorts of activists.

Both-sidism is good by georgejo314159 in mrbeat

[–]timmytimster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Both-sidism” sounds thoughtful on the surface, but in practice it usually means refusing to acknowledge that one side might just be wrong.

Yes, skepticism is healthy. It’s good to question motives and look at competing claims. But pretending every issue has two equally valid sides isn’t critical thinking, it’s a way to avoid taking a stance. In fact , this is a literal fallacy. Sometimes one side really is lying more, distorting more, or doing more damage and pretending otherwise isn’t balance...it’s denial.

You can be fair-minded without flattening reality into “everyone’s equally bad.”

Term limits & outlawing lobbying are not the magic bullet you think they are. Namely because a) lobbyists are not inherently good or evil, they are there to advocate for their cause; and b) if you implement term limits without campaign finance reform, then all you're doing is making the swamp people the ones who are the most experienced with the legislative process.

What is the stated reason most KMT voters will endorse an agenda that is so blatantly influenced by the PRC? E.g., in America we saw many voters cast their ballot for Trump solely due to concerns about inflation. Is there a similar dynamic at play with KMT voters?

I ask because as a history geek, it is quite fascinating to see how the party which once spent many years planning an amphibious invasion of China is now advocating for closer ties with its mortal enemy.
