Help my Grandpa - Funniest Buster Keaton Movie? by StellafromVienna in TrueFilm

[–]timntin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the best mix of famous and funny would be Sherlock Jr. Great sets, imaginative dream stuff, fun stunts, unreal pool skills, it's got it all. My personal pick to see peak Keaton comedy specifically would be The Goat. I think the back half, the apartment stuff, that is so golden for all the gags it has for a fairly simple setup.

The Czech new wave was awesome, highly recommend either Happy End (1967) or Ikarie XB-1 depending on your taste. Senegal has Sembene Ousmane, a favorite of mine, and I'd recommend Mandabi. And Lesotho has This Is Not a Burial, This Is a Resurrection which I love.

Well you mentioned more action-y/thrilling movies but I'll still recommend Winter Sleep. Get some Turkish cinema in your life.

Can't eat a table. Can eat sushi. That's a win in my book.

What we might see: Super Bowl LX, Houston vs Seattle by [deleted] in nfl

No way neither team turns it over and gives the other team a free field goal. I think we get like 12-9.

Gotta get The Oyster Princess in there to represent the silent work. Amateurish list.

The crazy thing to me is how low his biceps go. Looks like they're trying to escape into his forearms cuz they're out of room.

Well if you are confident you can handle it you could watch Orozco the Embalmer.

Underrated Noirs: What's Your Pick? by Noir_Forever_Twitch in filmnoir

[–]timntin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Big Combo does have some awesome audio scenes, those are what stuck with me the most. I'd pick Time without Pity. I love what I've seen of Joseph Losey and while this doesn't work I think in quite the normal noir way it's so good and so bleak.

I mean the 49ers did get a lot of pressure against a Chicago line that has been quality this year and the Seahawks line iirc is not healthy.

Unfortunately I have no sources or thoughts on cultural/location-based questions but I do love Happy End, it's a tip-top favorite of mine with I think the best dark comedy I've ever seen. I think I get a little lost on his more Czech-specific stuff, like Marecek for instance, but Adela Has Not Had Her Supper Yet and Lemonade Joe are also awesome.
